Chateau dEternité

This book does that. This is a time travel novel where the main character Russ goes back to Roman times and meets Quentus. In our modern Western world we are pretty egalitarian but in Quentus' time people are born into different roles and levels of society. Qunetus' assumption of dominance is nothing like the dominance in modern BDSM, it is not put on or worked for, he just assumes it. Kind of like a tiger assumes any room he is in is his. At the same time he is not a bad man, it just does not occur to him to be otherwise.

Russ has some real adjusting to the ways Quentus. He like how honorable he is and how smart he is.

But Russ has to find ways to deal with Quentus assumption of their roles in relationship to each other. He is not used to someone having power over what he can and can't do. He finds himself trying to find ways that he can contribute to Quentus. Both Quentus and Russ ending learning more about themselves through their interactions. I enjoyed the Roman setting and political and military manipulations as a background to these two characters. And a very creative method was used for the time travel. Creativity and good characters make this worth reading.

A very beautiful love story, set in a distant time. The story will not dissappoint you.

« Ossona, un sentiment d'éternité » ou la deuxième vie donnée à un hameau en ruine

I recommend this to anyone looking for a historical romance with a twist. This book combines intriguing historical drama, time travel and erotic romance. Russ and Quentus are good characters with a lot of personality. This story is immediately engaging as Russ explores his gift and figures out how to adapt to life in Nemausus. I have a couple of issues with this book.

I would prefer more detail in the way time traveling is explained. There is too much "because that's the way it is" for my liking. It's not a big thing, but it left me wanting more. I also am not crazy about the ending.

Reward Yourself

For a standalone book it doesn't feel like a solid conclusion. The epilogue helps, but I still feel there was something missing. Despite those issues, I enjoyed this story. I also look forward to reading more by Ariel Tachna.
