Fern's most memorable trip appeared to be when he had the opportunity to visit his father's birthplace and childhood home in a small town in the mountains of Italy called Bisaccia. Spending a great deal of time with his granddaughter as she was growing up and watching her excel in countless sporting events amongst other activities brought him a sense of pride and unparalleled joy. After retiring from Canada Manpower at 64, Jeanne loved curling, golfing, lunching with "the girls" at the Club, puttering in her garden and packing a bag in preparation for a trip to anywhere.
