The Eighth Glass (The Eighth Glass Series Book 1)

In the meantime, check out the Book Depository. I have several tours coming up in the next year. Keeping checking my events page and hopefully, I will be able to make it to your home soon. Do you have any advice? Read a lot, and write a lot. And never, ever give up. Can you read my manuscript? Or just the first chapter? Jul 13, Miranda Reads marked it as to-read. So we may agree to disagree on her style but I think something that we can not deny is her immense success and how big this series has got. In my 3 years on GR and few month of blogging, I have never seen a book that took over those sites as this book did. I am also not one of those people who started the series when book 1 was released. I actually read the whole series in 1 year. I like that this is a hard magic system that is bound by rules and that it is not just random and chaotic.

How they started and what they ended up being. In my previous reviews I criticized how Sarah always uses the term beautiful and most beautiful and gorgeous…etc to describe her characters. And she even went to say that a character could only be described as beautiful and I was like: I am not sure if I am totally satisfied with how things go but I can see why Sarah did certain things that way!

There were some good quotes Captain Obvious strikes again, It is almost pages so it is bound to have some good quotes. If you notice it once, it can not be unnoticed and becomes very annoying specially that it is repeated more than a times!! The plot was interesting from the first till the last page! That was better than a linear way of telling the story.

And that there were not ex machina moments in this book, everything made sense and the foreshadowing was top-notch! I feel like reading the series again just to catch all the hidden clues and be mesmerized again. Did I mention that the series was first written when Sarah was 16?!!! I am currently writing a short story and it is so hard but to start writing a whole series at 16 is just mind-blowing.

I am one of those readers who are convinced that no diversity is better than bad and forces diversity.

Jul 13, Kiki rated it it was amazing. There were points were I had to stop reading because I couldn't see the page through my tears. This was a journey, and I don't just mean this book.

This whole series has such a special place in my heart, and what I think a lot of people don't realise is that the Throne of Glass series, like the Harry Potter series, was designed to age with its readers. The teenagers who started "What if we go on, only to more pain and despair?

The teenagers who started reading this series at the release of Throne of Glass are now adults, and this series was written for us: I started following this story, of Celaena in a glass castle, solving mysteries and fighting duels, when I was Now, at 24, I've turned the last page of Aelin's story, but it doesn't hurt to say goodbye.

It feels full, like a beautiful finished painting, a tapestry with every thread neatly tucked away.

If there was a better way to end this, I can't think of what that might be. This series has meant a lot to me, and while it has its flaws, it's one of those stories that I'll come back to again. Because the themes are timeless, of bravery and love and healing, of family and redemption and hope, hope, hope. All of the books, but this one in particular, is at its heart about the power of never giving up, and of standing up for what you believe in against impossible odds. The wins and the losses - terrible losses that made me openly sob - were sore but meaningful, and that's the greatest triumph of this excellent last chapter.

That it all meant something, and that even the small ones, the most unlikely of heroes, the ones that no one saw coming, left their mark. I've gained and lost a lot of possessions in my life, but my books are important to me. My books have travelled with me across seas, across continents, across great and sometimes painful frontiers in my life.

This series is the reason why my books mean so much to me. Because they're transformative, evergreen, a truly powerful form of art.

And wherever I end up, wherever that might be, I'll take these ones with me. View all 26 comments. Fireheart, why do you cry? And from far away, deep within her, Aelin whispered toward that ray of memory, Because I am lost. He would not let the road end here. When iron melts, when flowers spring from fields of blood—let the land be witness, and return home. They would fight for this kingdom—their new court. Im going to shut up now but I just wish I could revisit this world back from the start and see these dear characters and see them happy and joking and living their best lives while staying hydrated and eating their veggies and drinking their juice boxes This has truly been an experience.

Once upon a time, in a land long since burned to ash, there lived a young princess who loved her kingdom I discovered the Throne of Glass series three years ago. I read the first book in e-book format and the next day I BEGGED my sister to take me to the bookstore so that I could purchase the rest of the series.

It's been a week since I've read this and I still can't form coherent thoughts. Kingdom of Ash was everything I expected and more.

My emotions are frayed. I will most probably write a better in depth review when I reread this book. But for now this will have to do. My tears were apparent from the first page. Tears of joy and tears of extreme pain. Fates collide and all the loose ends even ones I wasn't even aware of came together. This book was the perfect conclusion to a fantastic series. Things that made me cry: But wow Fenrys finally gets some recognition in KoA and there were so many times I thought he was gonna die. And thank you Sarah for these books; this world you created and for these brilliant characters that are now a part of my very soul.

And thanks to my sister for driving me to the bookstore that day. I'd prefer if there was no ash thanks. I'm not ready for this to be over. I need to mentally prepare myself for the wreckage that will come after I read this book. She became somewhat likeable or maybe I just felt sorry for her - While in previous books Aelin was usually the hero and everyone pretty much worshipped her, in this, there were other people that were heroes.

Honestly, Aelin barely did anything heroic and I loved that other people were allowed to shine!!. If shipping could kill, I would have died, especially regarding the decision one of them made at the end!! My baby was so badass and I loved it. I just love dorian and he made me laugh a few times view spoiler [ When he changed into a girl hide spoiler ] and I love how compassionate he is! This guy made me feel sorry for someone that was terrible! My fave friendship in this had to be Fenrys and Aelin! Who would have thought?? I just loved their bond! And no one can forget the most loyal friendship, the thirteen!!

Imagine having friends like that??? There was a point where I just wanted it to be over. Also, there were too many characters and they all had their mini-plots. Like who in Ansel? The people from Suria etc. Like I remembered nothing about the 'nameless' situation Some confusing parts view spoiler [ Why can Dorian shapeshift?

His weak portrayal isn't cute!! View all 44 comments. Feb 08, Candace Robinson rated it it was amazing. This has been a journey. One with emotion, one with lots and lots of emotions! And I'll have to say that this was pretty great conclusion to the series! There are a lot of POVs here! And I love so many of the characters that I can't really choose a favorite.

The others just had so much more going on within them. Manon and her witches had to be my favorite! Yrene is cou This has been a journey. Fenrys I want to pet his face! Chaol we're cool now after the last book! Lysandra you can do some cool tricks! Aelin has been through so dang much, and I feel like she's such a strong character. She's not selfish—she fights for her country, her people.

We need heroes like that in the real world! The writing was superb, and seriously, Mass deserves 5 stars just for writing such a huge book and series! Wow, the editing rounds for that scares me to think about! But seriously, I give it a 5 because it rocked! I will say that I need an epilogue of a certain character Jul 08, Andrea rated it it was amazing Shelves: I just finished it. Now I have such a book hangover. I can't believe I won't get to read more about these characters. I didn't know I was gonna love them like this that first time I picked up Throne of Glass back in Thank you Sarah for these amazing books.

I'm in a book coma for the fourth time again. Is it October yet??????? Just asking for a friend. Aelin I just finished it. Aelin will burn everything to ash, it'll be epic. This is the point in my life that happens every year after I finish one of Sarah J.

Maas books the day they released. I don't know what to do with my life anymore. The wait for this book feels like is gonna be endless and painful, and I know after this book releases I'll truly won't know what to do with my life after Thone Of Glass series end. Honestly tho, this is one of my favorite series ever. Year after year waiting for the next book and most of them I read them the day they released, it'll be tough knowing this is the last book and the last time I'll read about all my favorite characters.

All the stars for this perfect book.

  4. I still can't believe this series is over. I only started reading it in September and despite the series's ups and downs, it is so damn dear to my heart. This book hurt me to my core, but it was one amazing and satisfying conclusion. I didn't expect to adore it. Easily one of my favorites. This review will probably be a long one.

I mean the book deserves nothing less. So, you've been warned! It All the stars for this perfect book. It'll also be a horrible review because I suck at reviewing so I just really wanted to express my love okay!! As mentioned before, this series had its ups and downs for me. Gosh, I love this series so much and I'm so emotional right now and I don't know where to start. I loved every single moment of this book. It made me cry, smile, and cry some more.

Honestly, just remembering specific scenes makes me want to bawl again. It was just so action-packed and so emotional. It was a page-turner and I did not get bored for one second. There's some really dark scenes, guys. People suffer, and people recover. I've said this probably in every single SJM book review and I'll say it yet again: SJM is a pro at writing broken characters.

How they're struggling, how they're dealing and healing She does it so perfectly. I'm always in awe. And guys, oh God, these characters were so wonderful in this book. Every single one of them, even the ones I've hated for the entirety of this series. I'll get to it in a minute. Of course I am going to start with the love of my life. Words cannot explain how much I love him. Anyone who knows me knows I would die for Chaol Westfall and anyone who knows me knows I'd fight anyone who insults him.

I'm just so protective over him. Having to say goodbye to all the characters was hard.

Seeing Chaol happy and at peace in this book brought me to tears. I have been waiting to see Chaol this happy and peaceful ever since I read Crown of Midnight. Of course, he achieved that in Tower of Dawn, but seeing it in this book is quite different. I don't know how to explain it. Just so damn beautiful. He deserves all the beautiful and good things that came his way and I'm so glad he got his happy and peaceful ending.

Of course, I can't not discuss Yrene, his wife and my love. I love Yrene Towers. She is a beautiful soul and she had such a huge role in this book. Her relationship with Chaol is just so beautiful and I'm so happy. Just so, so happy. Additionally, his reunion with Dorian?

One of my favorite scenes in this book. Lysandra is my favorite female character in this series. What can I say? My strong, loyal queen!!!!! She deserves only good things and while she struggled in this book and it broke my heart approximately times, she got her happy ending.

My favorite after Chaol. I love him so much. He struggled and suffered so much in this book and I just wanted to hold him and protect him from the world. I admit, he stressed me out at times and I wanted to smack his head, but I adore him. I won't go into spoilers, just know I shed tears and tears and tears over Aedion. Am I satisfied with his conclusion? If I elaborate further, I'll be going into spoilers. We'll leave it at that.

Of course, I need to talk about my OTP!!!! They investigate the scene, and discover a single survivor, a small boy named Bill, who has lost his father in the attack. Roland and Jamie determine that the murderer left the scene on horseback, and Roland sends Jamie to the salt mines to round up every miner who has a horse or is able to ride one. While returning to Debaria with Bill, Roland performs his hypnotism trick which Roland first used in his chronological life in Wizard and Glass with one of his spare rounds of ammunition.

Under hypnosis, Bill relates what he saw of the Skin-Man; Bill tells Roland that he saw the Skin-Man in his human form after the attack, but only glimpsed his feet. He states that the Skin-Man had a tattoo of a blue ring around his ankle. The tattoo indicates that the man spent time in the prison at a now abandoned military barracks further west of Debaria.

That area had fallen to the chaos of John Farson , the Good Man, within the last generation. Back in town, Roland brings Bill to a cell in Sheriff's station. He plans to walk each suspect past Bill in the hopes the young boy can identify the Skin-Man, or that the Skin-Man will reveal himself by fleeing due to fear of being identified. In this story within a story , a boy named Tim Ross lives with his mother Nell in a forgotten village that fears the annual collection of property taxes by a man named The Covenant Man.

Tim recently lost his father, who was said to have been killed by a dragon while in the woods chopping trees. After the death of his father, Nell, no longer able to pay the taxes to keep their home, marries his father's best friend and business partner Bern Kells, who moves in with them. Kells is a mean man, prone to heavy drinking, who begins to abuse both Tim and Nell.

One day The Covenant Man comes to collect the taxes, and he secretly tells Tim to meet him later in the woods. During this meeting, The Covenant Man reveals to Tim that it was actually Kells who killed his father, not a dragon, and with help of a scrying bowl shows Kells beating his mother, causing her to go blind. Later, The Covenant Man sends Tim a vision telling him that if Tim again visits The Covenant Man in the woods, he will give Tim magic that will allow his mother to see again.

Tim, armed with a gun given to him by his school teacher, journeys into the dangerous woods, and is led into a swamp by the mischievous fairy, Armaneeta. Here, Tim almost becomes victim to a dragon and other mysterious swamp creatures, but he is saved by his gun as well as a group of friendly swamp people, who mistake him for a gunslinger.

The swamp people guide him to the far side of the swamp, and equip him with a small mechanical talking device from the 'Old People' that helps guide him on his journey. Eventually, Tim arrives at a Dogan where he finds a caged 'tyger', which wears the key to the Dogan around its neck. A starkblast approaches, and Tim, realizing this is likely a trap set for him by The Covenant Man, befriends the tyger. Tim and the tyger ride out the storm under a magical protective blanket.
