Nana, Vol. 14: v. 14

And the feeling gets worse when we get to the future flashbacks, or if we say it correctly the whole story is a one big past flashback and the so called future moments are the real present time. But let me introduce you to our characters. If you have read the summary you know that the story is focused on two girls, who share the same name, but their lives are absolutely different.

However, they become best friends and they will have to overcome many difficulties together. Osaki Nana — a musician, a singer who is in love with the guitarist of a very popular band — Ren. Especially if my hypothesis is correct and the relationship between Nana Hachi and her first kid was ruined because of her.

Nana, Vol. 14

But let me talk about mother Nana — Nana Komatsu. In the beginning I thoughts she was plain stupid, I thought so even until the middle of the story, but somehow I changed my opinion of her. But then I thought, she really did love him and no matter what you think Takuma did love her. What I really loved about him were his words when he thoughts that Nana was pregnant. The story is full of sadness and love, especially unfulfilled but at the same time fulfilled love. It makes you wonder if the life is really like that.

You get to meet many different characters, and remember that all of them are damaged in some ways. Will they be able to become whole or will they get more damaged in the end?

You might get bored and confused, as there are many character and they talk a lot. I mean that they talk too much sometimes! But I do recommend you to read it.

Nana, Vol. 14 | Book by Ai Yazawa | Official Publisher Page | Simon & Schuster Canada

The beautiful thing about the best manga unless it's purely episodic, like Tezuka's Black Jack is that there's usually a finely plotted story arc that builds over the course of several volumes to a tightly scripted and deeply satisfying climax. And then the series ends. Nana has begun to feel like a series that had an initial story arc all planned out, but then decided to extend its run beyond all natural limits. Kind of like all of those Mulder-less episodes i This series has finally lost me.

Kind of like all of those Mulder-less episodes in the final couple of seasons of the X-Files.

As I wrote in an earlier review of volume Plot and character development have been in stasis for about two books now. Reading this volume kind of felt like eating soup meant for two people that's been watered down so it can feed ten. There's definitely some entertainment to be found here, but it's a lot of sweet nothings. The soap-operatic dilemmas that the characters are currently encased in are the painfully uninteresting products of their entry into the 'real' world.

Things were much more interesting when they were on the outside, living in a naive dreamworld. This is even mirrored by the changes in Yazawa's drawing style for the last few books. While initial volumes had loving multi-page spreads that were fawning centerfolds of affection for the characters she was bringing into being, the last two volumes feature pages full of closed panels that mainly just move the plot along.

Even though the plot is being moved along, however, the story itself isn't being advanced at all.

Nana Manga

If things don't return to business as usual within the next couple of volumes, this series is in danger of losing me. Oct 01, Mel rated it really liked it. I don't know about Nobu right now If him and Nana K.

He lets people tell him what to do and doesn't seem to know what to do with himself Please please tell me that Nana isn't dead this whole time?? Please tell me that she is just on a solo career or something?? Can the series just end with Nana O.

  • The Potters Thumb.
  • A Clash of Steel?
  • Lily: Lily and the Prisoner of Magic: Book 3.

The Misato thing kind of threw me off a bit I thought it might be her, but I wasn't sure. So it was sort of ominous the way they showed her in her apartment, with all of the Blast stuff, and at the same time that news story playing about the murderer that was obsessed with the victim? She seems really sweet and I like her, so please lets not go on that route. Also what is the deal with her name? Did she investigate and find out that Misato is Nana's real sisters name, and that's why she chose it feel like her sister?

I'm planning on watching the movies and anime after I finish the series to help hold me over.
