The Keeper (Book 2: The Guardian Series)

Yeah, probably would have been a good idea. I was especially intrigued with the first section of the book, but wasn't quite prepared for when it jumped from Europe to the US and totally different characters. I know, if I'd only read the first book After that, the excitement seemed to take a little time to get going again.

Much of the first half was taken up with "wrapping up" what transpired in the first book.

By the middle, when the family went overseas, I found myself more invested in the story and it finally felt like its own plot rather than a continuation of the first. It was then that I became immersed in the McAllisters' world and the pace picked up, though my favorite part remained the history and back story.

Keepers of Blackbird Hill Lael Littke. Some of the details just didn't connect for me. I found it a chore to keep reading at times. I really wish I didn't have to wait until August to read the next book in this series!!!

That seems like forever from now. This book continues the story but focuses on Hannah, who killed a Reaper and is worried about facing murder charges. Her one true love walked out of her life thirteen years ago to become a policeman in the big city of LA. He wanted Hannah to come with him, but not knowing of her Keeper duties, she could only refuse and watch him leave.

Now David is a detective for the local county sheriffs office and he's been sent to town to investigate the murder of the man who was also the Reaper who attacked Hannah. As David tries to win back Hannah's love and rekindle their romance, Hannah has to worry that any day now he'll be the one forced to arrest her. Aiden, Jack's best friend and one of the Reapers, also makes quite a few appearances in this book too.

Can't wait to read more! Not a stand alone book at all!

To sum it up: They were childhood sweethearts, then he broke her heart by leaving. I liked book 1 more than this. My problems were; how Hanna forgave David so quickly, after 12 years of heartbreak it took two conversations for her to jump into bed with him. There were several inconsistencies throughout the story and how Hannah and Davids POV were written made the story really boring. Considering returning them now.
