The amazing detail that is captured at crime scenes and the patience is takes to collect that information is mind-boggling. I love books where I learn about how things work and this series does that admirably well. If Dust to Dust is an example of the usual fare in this series, I'm definitely going to be looking at finding more of her books.

The mysteries were complex and, while the clues are detailed for the reader at the same time as the main characters learns about them, guessing who did it was very difficult. Even more intriguing was how the cases were connected but, because of the differing jurisdictions and the abilities of the various crime scene investigators and ME, there was little likelihood of the connections being noticed.

The connection might not even have been made here if not for a person with one bit of information being present at the right time to notice another bit of information. The beauty of the writing is that a reader doesn't feel that this is a deus ex machina, but instead one of those lucky coincidences that sometimes solve cases.

Excellent writing, intricate and believable plotting, well-rounded characters, and a community of people and services that can be almost too real at time makes for a intense reading experience.
