I just could not empathize with her character. Lots and lots of grammatical errors. Aug 02, Tina Nguyen rated it it was ok. The writing style was rushed, and I did not like that. It seemed as if everything was underdeveloped. Feb 13, Debra Lambert Stone rated it it was amazing. The Convenient Bride This is the second time that I have read this story. I really enjoyed it the 1st time and the second time was just as good. Looking forward to reading more of Catherine Winchester s work.

Thank you for a great story. Sep 17, Tonileg rated it it was ok Shelves: Historical English romance with an orphaned ward who is in love with the oldest rakish son of her guardian. This book spans between Melbourne and Italy as we meet hoteliers Sienna DeLuca - the Plaza Hotel in Melbourne as been in her family for hundreds of years but now due to debt she has landed herself in an unfortunate situation and her families legacy is about to be brought my multi-millionaire Antonio Morletti - a worldwide famous owner of hotels scattered all around the globe yet he can't get his hands on the one hotel he really wants. With Sienna , practically begging to do anything to save the hotel and Antonio needing to prove to the hotel owners of the Villa in Italy that he wants to buy , that he's not a playboy enter into a contract of a fake marriage.

As we can imagine these fake marriages don't always mesh well with the emotions of both parties, no matter how hard they deny it and try and stick to the whole line of "Im doing this because I have to and I am happy pretending". When each party gets too close to discovering each others closest and guarded secrets and trust flies out the window - will both parties be able to keep up the charade or will they realise that they have actually developed "real" feelings of love for the other? In a way this reminded me of the Christian themed novel by Jenny B.

Jones "Save the Date" which follows a similar storyline. George offers the romance that normally features in Mills and Boons and tales like this but for some reason , her writing seemed to captivate me as all I can say is that unlike the Mills and Boons fluffiness of romance novels - I have found that the Destiny Romance line has depth in their stories which makes the readers like me hook into more. The Convenient Bride is a story as devine as the cover!

Sienna has no choice but to accept Antonio Moretti's proposal - a marriage of convenience proposal. She is instantly whisked away from Melbourne, the only home she's ever known, into Antonio's wealthy, first class and upscale world in Venice. Sienna has Italian roots but she's like a fish out of w I was so lucky to win this fantastic debut stoy by Jennifer St George over at Cherie Le Clare's Blog who by the way is a fan. Sienna has Italian roots but she's like a fish out of water in Antonio's world.

Sienna and Antonio are as opposite as you can get and I love how they grow in each other's company. I was captured by Sienna's thoughts and personality and I loved her ability to chip away at Antonio's tough exterior. Antonio is the the complete opposite to Sienna and yet so similar, he's as passionate about his family and Sienna is about hers. He has the world at his feet and yet his world is solitary. His only family has been shamed by what the media is saying about him. It was so moving when he opens up to Sienna even my heart ached for him.

I too was whisked away to Venice. I was transported by the rich descriptions to a world far far far away from my own. A beautifully woven story that I will read again and I will definitely be looking forward to reading Seducing the Secret Heiress. Sienna is a wonderful heroine. Real in her commitment to family and her longing for her own dreams.

The Convenient Bride: Destiny Romance by Jennifer St George - Penguin Books Australia

I appreciated her down to earth response to the Cinderella effect of Antonio's entrance into her life. I don't want to risk spoilers You'll enjoy the emotional journey and the scenery along the way is gorgeously and lovingly described. Antonio is a perfect alpha hero, that mix of damn-it-all-do-what-I-say and loving and indulging his woman. Strong emotions give the Cinderella t Sienna is a wonderful heroine. Strong emotions give the Cinderella trope real depth. Sep 29, Rowena May O'Sullivan rated it it was amazing. Absolutely loved this book and a timely read I'm thinking considering it is set in Venice and the wedding of George Clooney was happening around the time I was reading this book.

Just loved the characters Sienna de Luca and Antonio Moretti in this story and I was brought to tears as the characters evolved and we learned their story. This was a beautifully written story and I was hooked right from the very beginning and read it in one day, which is rare for me.

Set in opulent surroundings thats choc full of wealth and posh hotels, this is a quick and quite engaging read. I got drawn into Sienna's and Antonio's story and thoroughly enjoyed the ride. Maybe it's because I am a sucker for Billionaires and their wicked ways of doing things that's portrayed in books, maybe it's because I love an European flavour, but one thing this book did actually have depth and emotions.

Yes it's predictable but it's written in a way you can't help to get drawn in. This might be Jen's first book, but you can't tell. I really enjoyed it. Finished it in one go. It was an easy read and predictable in the kind of good way that this kind of romance book should be. THe romance was a little slow at the start, but then, the when they fired up, the burn was good and really made me want them to get together. Jen does the OS locations really well. From the sound of it, they can't be too far ahead; what with her quick steed and their slow turning wheels, two weeks past will be no distance for her.

Adventure lies ahead with Neelie's hopes of further lining her own pockets, with amazing skills with her cross-draw six-shooters while riding atop her galloping mustang, Whistle. Widower Ian Kamden and his five motherless children journey on after the death on the trail of his wife, Rhoda. So many dreams set aside. A surprise was in store for Neelie when she reached the wagon train. Having read the previous stories, I was surprised too! How lovely to be seen beyond what we see of ourselves! No need to hide anymore.

Come as you are, to be cherished. I am reviewing her story, Keeper of My Heart. This review was written in my own words. No other compensation was received. Apr 23, Kerry Hedden rated it really liked it Shelves: I would have to say that in general I liked the book. The Convenient Bride Collection is nine short stories about marriages that take place due more to necessity than love. Reviewing a collection is a bit tricky but if I had read each of the short stories individually over a span of time I would have reviewed 8 of the 9 as nice reads, well written historical Christian fiction.

The Convenient Bride

My recommendation for reading and truly enjoying each story is not to read the book from cover to cover at one time. I wo I would have to say that in general I liked the book. I would read one story at a time and then take a break, read another book and then come back and select another story. Otherwise you may feel like I was beginning to feel, that the story themes were getting a bit redundant- that there were only plain, old maid women with no self confidence in their looks or their abilities or that women were very confident and needed a man only to guarantee their inheritance.

My favorite book in the collection was The Substitute Wife by Amanda Barratt, she did a really nice job of letting you get to know and enjoy her characters in a very short time. My favorite character in the series was Bear, in A Bride for Bear, Erica did a really good job developing this character, and you could really empathize with him and his situation. The only story I really didn't enjoy was Have Cash, Will Marry, as it did not follow the mold of a marriage for necessity theme and I just never felt connected with the characters. I was given this book in an EBook format from NetGalley for my honest opinion.

I am not so sure I in that age or time would have found the courage to venture into such an agreement. Though most of these women did not have much of a choice for some it was a matter of life or death. We are fortunate as women to have rights these women did not have back then.

Each story made an impression on my heart leaving This collection of stories is about determination and fortitude, which I found in each of these brides as they ventured into a blind agreement of marriage, most intriguing. Each story made an impression on my heart leaving me to imagine if any of the women on my family tree were put in the position to make such a choice.

Don't even ask me to pick which story was my favorite because I must say they are all top of my favorite list. I want to thank all of these authors for combining their stories into one book for our pleasure to read and contemplate on historical times for women, which is my favorite subject. I highly recommend this book! I rated this book a 5 out of 5.

I was in no way compensated for this review. Jun 05, Madonna Dolin rated it really liked it. I always enjoy historical fiction so this was a fun read for the most part.

Naturally there were some stories that got my attention more than others but overall, I liked this book. Convenient marriages always interest me because we don't hear so much about them anymore but they used to be quite common. If a wife and mother had died then the husband needed someone to tend the family and it was easier to get a wife than to afford help.

Reading this book though was a reminder of how few options women had years ago. There weren't a lot of jobs for women and if you had no family and didn't luck upon a husband, you could end up in a pretty desperate situation. I liked that this was Christian fiction because it focused more on the characters and developing them instead of just using sex as a plot line. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys historical romances. May 09, Amy rated it it was ok. A collection of short stories, based in the early s of America, they offer the reader a quick read of a clean romance story, though some of them leave you feeling pretty flat.

My favourite was the first in the book, which I really loved from beginning to end. Others I had a hard time giving credibility too. Convenient Marriages, in most stories in order to save face or just because they needed a spouse, OK. I think I found the sudden endings a little abrupt! Sometimes when you start to root for a development of a real connection - you like a little more than a quick conversation that now they have fallen in love!! Jun 01, Dana Kamstra rated it it was amazing. I found this collection to be fantastic!

This might just be one of my favorite collections that have been released so far. So often, novellas have too much story to be told within their pages and that makes them feel rushed or too contrived.

Not so with this collection. I found most of the stories in this book to have well-developed characters and plot for the number of pages, and rarely did I feel like the story was rushed. There's a bit of everything in this collection. The stories are set fro I found this collection to be fantastic!

The stories are set from the East Coast to the West. Mail order brides or parents interfering. Marriages as a result of a will or some for the simple act of needing additional help. This is a wonderful collection and one that I can highly reccommend. All opinions expressed are my own. Jun 06, Amy rated it it was amazing. The Convenient Bride Collection consists of nine stories.
