Fighting the Dragon (Dragon Erotica)

I love the love story between Rayne and Kyndel. Can't wait for the next one. I loved Kyndel's sass and her attitude and how she seemed to keep Rayne in his place. First I have to say, beautiful cover! Secondly, The detailed description of the large cast of characters really made me " see" and know each of them. Kyndel is a breath of fresh air as a strong woman in her own right. She is not some tall, slinky blonde.

She has curves and always felt a little over weight. She has freckles and reddish hair with emerald green eyes. She cares about the people around her and is quick to help those in need. The only thing she is afraid of is walking alone in the dar First I have to say, beautiful cover! The only thing she is afraid of is walking alone in the dark, which is exactly how she meets Rayne Masterson.

He quite literally crashes into her life on her walk home from work in the dark. It's all about the universe and destiny from there. They are all Shifters. They are being hunted and are at war, but that doesn't stop Rayne from claiming Kyndel as his one perfect mate and together with his brothers in arms face the many challenges that are coming.

This is a steamy romance of two mates finding each other, a story of the unconditional loyalty of brotherhood and all the laughter, games and fun they have together. This is also a story of unimaginable loss and betrayal, and let me just say I never saw that coming. I have got to read the next installment to see what happens, plus it looks like another mateing is on the horizon for one of our beloved Dragon Guards. This book was a gift, but more like the gift of another Brilliant Author! Thank you Julia Mills I loved Rayne he makes the cutest sounds when he's knocked out cold, "she paused.

It's the authors character development teamed with her book concept that ensured that this book was a thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining read. The author builds in enough back story to establish a firm setting for this new series and introduces secondary characters that will no doubt take the lead in future instalments. The book opens with a good love of tension and quickly turns to palpable heat. These two aspects are common themes through the book that the author maintains and establishes with success. An impressive first instalment to a series that I will happily follow. I enjoyed this first book by new author Julia Mills quite a bit.

The reader gets an excellent visual concept of Rayne, Kyndel and the dragons from their size to the brilliant colors. I saw them flying through the sky, I saw them change. I love that Kyndel is no shrinking violet and has a lot of sass and cockiness to help her deal with all the wild things she is told. I can see her cocking one of her eyebrows and delivering a line or asking a question. I think I fell in love with Rayne as soon as I enjoyed this first book by new author Julia Mills quite a bit. I think I fell in love with Rayne as soon as he gained consciousness.

To find that perfect love and have someone worship you like he does I think the Dragon Guards are here to stay. I was given a copy of this book from the author in exchange for a honest review. You know the kind. Love so strong and so perfect that the two who are involved cannot bear to be apart from one another. Her Dragon to Slay is a tale of a dragon warrior, Rayne, who finally, after years spent wondering whether she existed at all, meets his mate. Kyndel is Rayne's mate. She works a job she doesn't love, has no family left, and has only one really good friend, Grace.

She has a rather chatty inner voice that doesn't like to leave her along and she gives this voice names like Catty Kyndel and Bitchy Kyndel. As she's walking home from work one night after loaning Grace her car and her cell phone , she finds Rayne, bleeding and severely injured, outside of a park. He got himself into this state because his dragon sensed that his mate was in danger.

A rapist was hiding in the park, trying to lure unsuspecting women. This rapist wasn't targeting Kyndall specifically, but that put her in no less danger. Rayne's dragon recognized the danger, compelled him to save her, and then put him smack dab in the middle of a bunch of hunters the enemies of his kind who were trying to hurt him and would stop at nothing to get at the woman who means more to him than his own life. Well, Rayne can't just let this sort of offense go unanswered, so he kills the rapist, the hunters, and in the killing, ends up seriously injured himself. He manages to get himself to a point where he's on the sidewalk close enough to reach Kyndel and he grabs on to her with his last remaining reserves of strength.

From there, things progress much like you'd expect. Don't get me wrong. This is a good book. It's a quick, fun read. The sex is incredibly hot and well done. Rayne's feelings are the stuff of female fantasies and Kyndel, both intelligent and responsible, responds like one who has suddenly discovered her other half. I enjoyed this tale thoroughly, but truth be told, I did want a little more. Despite the fact that Rayne and Kyndel are fated to love each other, I expected Kyndel to resist just a touch more, or at least ask more questions.

That said, from the first ten pages, we know they're fated, so this is a forgivable offense. At one point I wanted Kyndel to display a little more initiative, backbone, or just plain street smarts. I felt like the author intended her to be so much more, but then Rayne took over and did his alpha male dragon thing and that was it.

Granted, that's his way, but I had hoped Kyndel would be just a little stronger. There were a few editing issues that could be addressed missing periods, a word here or there , but overall, it was well written and well crafted. Rayne and Kyndel's story ends well, which I'd say is a requirement in this type of story, and we get a glimpse of where the next book in the series will be taking us at the end.

My only serious complaint was that the author seemed to want to ram home the fact that they were fated and that each was perfect for the other. These facts were repeated many many times over the course of the book. Every few pages Rayne would have an internal dialog about how Kyndel was his most perfect mate and the one the Universe crafted for him. It was as if this was the refrain running through his head for days. And perhaps it was. But I felt as if we knew this early on and maybe he could have another thought or two. That said, if you want a quick read with hot sex, a strong alpha male who shifts into a magnificent dragon, and a band of loyal and courageous brothers that you just know will each have their own story, this is the book for you.

The elusive scent of a long-awaited mate also distracts the Dragon Guard commander, and while Rayne stops the human intent on killing her, he's badly wounded by the hunters tracking him. The fated couple's meeting was no sweet meet in the park. Rayne stopped the imminent threat by his enemies who would kill his mate without hesitation in their never-ending efforts to eliminate the Dragon Guards' existence. But more hunters were on the way, Rayne needed hours of healing sleep to recover his full strength, and he had to convince his unaware mate to let him take refuge in her home while his brother Guards rushed to hide the bloody battle remnants from the humans.

Oddly drawn to the handsome man and against her better judgment, Kyndel takes Rayne to her home. His hands have an eerily electrical almost uncomfortable feel. Even while he was unconscious, each touch while treating his cuts and wounds furthers her attraction. Upon awakening, Rayne can't take the precious time to slowly woo his mate into the knowledge of their future together. To protect her, he and the guards sweep her along in their race to stop the hunters' latest deadly efforts.

A simple meal saddens him over the rush. Offered a plate of food, Kyndel told one of the guards she hadn't realized how hungry she was until she smelled it. How had he not thought of feeding her? I saw this excerpt on a website: After they were seated, he lifted a piece of meat to her lips.

He would make sure she got her fill, whatever it took. She would never be hungry as long as he drew breath. Kyndel tried to take the meat from his fingers, but he quickly moved his hand. She moved her head back, "Rayne, I'm capable of feeding myself. I can command men and fight hordes of hunters, but the first time I'm supposed to care for my mate, I let her go hungry But that's not a full picture of their beautiful relationship. They have their battles of will, and the sassy redhead earns her Guard nickname while giving them hope at finding their own fated mates.

The scene with the iron skillet is priceless. Julia Mills does a wonderful job at building a world filled with dragon protectors with great visualization. She deftly weaves touches of humor and plenty of passion throughout the action-packed romance. Her strong secondary characters and the perfect epilogue let readers know there are more couples to meet who "live long, fight hard, and love harder". I immediately went to Amazon and purchased. Not usually a reader of Dragon shifters I still wanted to give this read a try.

I was so not disappointed I loved this book. When the story opens we have Kyndel Masterson a strong willed, independent, and no nonsense type female, having to walk home from work because she lent her roommate her car. You see Kyndel has a very hard time telling Grace NO. Kyndel is what you might call a healer. If someone is hurt or in trouble she feels the need to help them. So during her walk home she thinks she hears a thud, like something soft hitting something hard and unyielding. But when she hears it again she freezes in her tracks having an internal debate whether to go into the park and assist or keep walking and phoning for help.

His dragon has been warring with him for several weeks to go to the city so finally this night Rayne decided to give in to his beast and it was a good thing he did. After dragging the body into the shadows so his team could come do the cleanup he was so awestruck at finding his mate and protecting her, he did not follow his training and the protocol of the Dragon Guard to scent out the area or open his senses to any other danger he was now caught in a trap. Stuck by a silver headed arrow of the Hunters.

Rayne fought with everything he had to keep the attention off of his mate and keep her safe. Enough said you really need to read this story. Will this be the next book? Left as a orphan as a small child to be raised by her healer Grandmother Kendyl had always felt different from the kids at school and to the time to absorb all the knowledge her grandma had to offer about healing and herbs instead.

Having only one friend in the world, Kendyl excelled at keeping to herself and committing herself to her own garden. There are no such things as coincidence as fate will not be ignored and places Kendyl where it needs her so an incredibly beautiful and strong dragon commander can find the peace only she can offer him. This begins the magical journey for a wounded warrior and a lovely human alone in the world to find their chance at peace and love even with enemies threatening to destroy that love at every turn. Fate will not be ignored; their passion cannot be tamed but are they strong enough to stand against an ancient betrayal?

I loved this book and was drawn in from the first page. Rayne is a beautiful soul and the love he holds for his mate is etched in his every action. Kendyl has her own strength and fire that makes her a hero in her own right and not a damsel in distress. The sparks between alpha male and headstrong female ignite every page. This is a hot start in a series from a new author. I would and have recommended this to numerous friends.

I give this book 5 Stars! I must say that shifter stories are not usually on my reading list. But this one has some spark to it. It was honestly a captivating read. Kyndel Masterson is walking home alone one night. She is afraid of the dark, " I can do this, I can do this" is her mantra as she bravely walks on ignoring the sounds that she may or may not truly be hearing. Rayne MacLendon is the leader of the dragon pack. It is common knowledge among dragons that fate will intervene and your mate will be revealed to you.

Flying over the city on the night that Kyndel is walking home he realizes that she is the one for him and also that she is in trouble. He rescues her from trouble but is injured in the process. She takes him home and cares for him, nursing him back to health with her herbs and healing potions. The attraction between the two of them is intense and very powerful. But, alas the bad guys are coming after Rayne and they must get away.

It is her destiny to be with him.

Twin Dragons

She must go with him. There were certainly some battles here. The battle for her heart as they both realize that they are destined to be together. The battle to make it saftely away as fifty evil hunters are after him and his family. It is touch and go, there are so many hunters and there are not very many of themselves.

This story was a very well written fantasy novel. I really enjoyed reading it. The ending was a bit of a cliffhanger and led the way for the next story or two to be written, which of course I will have to read to see what happens. I really enjoyed reading about the dragons, the attention to detail when describing the dragon inside him and the tattoo on his back made it very easy to visualize him.

A delightful and intriguing read from Julia Mills and I can't wait for book two!

Her dragon to slay Julia Mills is a new author to me. As soon as I heard the title it peaked my interest, I love shifter books of all kinds and a good dragon shifter story is the best. When I started the book at first I was thinking it was repetitive BUT that was just a nano second then the book exploded.

Her detail of each character as human and their dragon make them come to life. Kyndel is a strong, kind, and witty woman, and Rayne is a leader that shows he cares about his clan and his duties as commander in the dragon guard Julia Mills has constructed the perfect mates with theses two.

The thing that makes me so thrilled with the book is by her details of ALL the guard , I kept thinking as I read this book was I want to know more about them. This book is a must read if you like shifter books , and I look so look forward to her next book I was totally impressed. It is the story of a group of dragon shifters.

While trying to protect their own kind, and the human race, they are also on the lookout for their mates. Rayne, the leader of the group, finds his mate while saving her from a would-be attacker. She is a beauty, but has some real trust issues. However from the first time she sees Rayne, she trusts him. Nothing like this has happened before Her Dragon To Slay I have to say that this is the first book I have read by this author. Come on along as they learn more about each other, and she learns who and what he really is. Hope the journey with these shifters never ends. This book deserves a lot more than 5 stars.

The thing that I loved about the book is by her amazing details of ALL the guard , I hope she is planning to write a story about each of them. That Melina is too valuable to allow the twin's to keep. So many possibilities ran through my head when at first it seemed that there would be a m-m-m menage relationship only to find out it would be m-f-m. The story started out with a bang as events were filled in that were paralleled in Cornering Carmen and the spin off series.

Best way for me to convey my thoughts is Paul Harvey quote: And now you know — the rest of the story. And I'm so glad I now do know. D As for the adult content scenes. To each their own. I guess a question from those who haven't read any of the series written by this author might be if this could be read as a standalone. I'm on the fence about that.

I do think it's time the author includes a genealogy map of sorts in the beginning of her books for a visual reference of who is mated to who and how that relates to the others. Most of her series are interconnected to the point the different characters get confusing and I really don't want to do a book to book search which I did when I need a reminder or know who goes with who and where they fall in the overall picture. The core of the story is independent from other installments.

This was a book any fan of the series will love. Combines action-adventure, snarky humor, and sensual bedroom action to provide a total package experience. For those who haven't read any of this author's previous works, it's more a matter of personal taste where you want to jump in.

Each installment is a standalone though to get the full flavor it's recommended to start from the beginning. View all 7 comments. I love reading a series where the story in each book parallel each other and intersect at points. This time though, it had been long enough where it took me a bit more to link the points with Carmen's story. Though that didn't take away from this story at all really.

Calo and Cree are witness to this and swear that they will never allow themselves to get that point. Fast forward now a couple centuries and the two of them have pledged themselves to the service of the royal family. They have distinguished themselves as quite the formidable team of warriors and are currently on a mission with Creon to rescue Vox.

Only, they know time for them is running out for them because it is getting increasingly harder for them to control their dragons. They had always hoped to die in battle but it doesn't seem like it will happen. As we already knew, Melina and her grandfather Cal were abducted years ago and ended up on an asteroid as slaves. Once the mine was abandoned, they eventually were the last two left alive and were just about to run out of clean air and food when the alarms sounded and they knew someone had landed.

After much frustration, Creon agrees to take them and the animal with him. Cal decides that it would be better for Mel to keep pretending to be a mute boy but that soon leads to complications. Mainly when Calo and Cree are around. Mel doesn't understand the affect they have on her and she fears that their attraction to her would falter if they found out she was a girl. After all, they do think she's a boy.

Even though they have no idea what to think about the fact that their true mate is male, they accept it and try to do all they can for Mel. And it immediately makes so much fall into place for Calo and Cree view spoiler [I don't get why their dragons and symbiots didn't just tell them that Mel was a girl. Why did they have to be so cryptic about it? Even so, she is determined to go home and have a normal life. It doesn't take long for her to realize that Earth is no longer her home though. And shortly thereafter she realizes that she also needs both Calo and Cree because of what Cree's dragon started when his control slipped.

From there it's pretty much them trying to get to know each other better and the twins learning that Melina needs to be left alone sometimes no matter what they want. The ending was an interesting surprise. I figured that they would take her home to meet their parents but what happened in the village was something I wasn't expecting. One thing that bugged me about this story was Cal aboard the ship. He acted like such an ungrateful bastard toward pretty much every Valdier that came to where they were staying. I get that he did that to keep them out so that they wouldn't learn Melina's secret, but I couldn't believe how rude he was to the people who saved the two of them when they didn't have to.

This wasn't the first book in a series where twins had to claim the same mate that I have read so, I admit, I was curious as to how these two would deal with it. Being all alpha dragons and all I couldn't imagine how they would deal with their jealousy when their brother got the attention of their mate. Needless to say it wasn't such a surprise when the two of them started fighting. Though their acceptance of having to share seemed to come pretty darn quick when Melina's dragon put them in place I missed that there was no Zoren and Abby in this book.

Sep 20, Kristin rated it really liked it. I wanted to read this one since I first read Carmens story. The first few books were very repetitive due to overlapping storylines, Cara being so quirky and funny helped me stay engaged and Trisha and Carmen stories gave this sci-fi shifter series ass-kicking-girl-power-pride. I loved the beginning of this book getting to see new angles on the Twins trying to address their dragons' insistence that a small unstable boy is in fact their true mate. Meanwhile, Mel, aka, Melanie, is struggling with her desire to fess up to her deception or securing her grandfather's way home to Earth where they were abducted from four years ago as slave labor.

Fast forwarding to the mating scene, I like how the author includes sex sometimes kinky without getting too raunchy. I have read alot of this author's work and enjoyed each one. And it was really starting to affect them. Almost to the point where they would have been destroyed. It was breaking my heart. They needed a mate strong enough to handle both of them because they are a part of each other.

And here come this spit fire Melina. Not only did she survive being kidnapped and almost starved to death but was a work horse to on an alien ship with her grandfather. She had to out wit and out maneuver a lot of aliens just to say alive. No wonder she was the right one to be there true mate. I did find it to be a bit slow and repetitive from the other book but that's ok because we got to see it from her point of view. I was going to do this detailed instruction manual of what incredibly complicated order to read the books in, but life is too short! I had to keep going to the next book books 6 to I skipped the I want books that aren't so intertwined with other books. I skipped the sex scenes.

I started reading the series because my Amazon kept suggesting I should read the Dragonling's Christmas and such. I wanted the adorableness!!! When I first read about Melina and her grandfather in a previous book I hoped the author would write Melina's story.

I have anxiously awaited this book and started to read it the minute it was available. I also loved the twin dragons and am thrilled they were paired with Melina. Their story was wonderful; I was up all night finishing the book. Melina is a strong human woman.

Compared with the other female leads from the previous books in the series, Melina didn't feel like a very strong heroine.
