The Ravens beat the Broncos in their stadium. Denver finally faced a team playing quality football after hardly doing so for two months and was beat, making us all wonder about the merit of the club's game winning streak. No, they've been whupped in two straight divisional-round bouts. Given the Falcons ' mediocre running game, that's not likely to change. Obviously, the contract situations of Joe Flacco and Ed Reed hover slightly above "relevant" in terms of importance. The Ray Lewis departure is a huge loss in the locker room but a gain on the field.

I'll tell you what, though: Having a healthy Lardarius Webb in the secondary will make the defense better in What a tough loss to take, 49ers faithful. The most mind-boggling aspect? The questionable play calling by offensive coordinator Greg Roman in the most important goal-to-go sequence of the season. He had been rock solid pretty much all year. San Francisco is exploding with young talent: Like the Pats, the Niners boast an excellent blend of young and old. So what will they get for Alex Smith? That's becoming old hat. Still, it's been eight seasons since this team won the Super Bowl.

The key for the Pats, as mentioned above, is their mix of veterans and young talent. Stevan Ridley , for example, just broke out in his second NFL season. The linebacking corps is turning into a team strength. Concern abounded in this space a month ago regarding the possibility that offensive coordinator Mike McCoy could be distracted by potential head-coaching vacancies. Whether or not that played any role in the loss to the Ravens is up for debate. The decision to run the ball three straight times and punt with 2: McCoy is now gone, taking over as San Diego's head coach. So here are two other thoughts regarding the Denver Broncos: In , a year-old John Elway missed four starts, but Denver went , thanks to solid backup Bubby Brister.

Denver doesn't have that kind of depth at QB right now. Just two teams beaten during that streak -- Cincinnati and Baltimore -- finished with winning records. And the Ravens , of course, ousted the Broncos from the playoffs. This is a tough call. The Atlanta Falcons are capable of putting up 13 wins -- they've managed that feat in two of the past three years. They also have no problem getting out in front of opponents with coordinator Dirk Koetter's explosive offensive. Koetter signed a contract extension to remain in Atlanta.

It doesn't seem that this team can change much to get over the hump. Mike Smith 's club is already the least penalized, most disciplined team in the league. Getting Brent Grimes back will help. Nonetheless, little will change until this team learns to close the deal in the postseason. Even in the divisional-round win over the Seahawks , many felt Seattle should've pulled it out.

I'll go with could've. There are multiple question marks entering every offseason for every team, but in Seattle, the biggest has to be how this club will fare without defensive coordinator Gus Bradley , who left for the head job in Jacksonville. We can talk free agents, or Russell Wilson 's development.

2019 NFL Draft Tracker

Still, much of 's success will boil down to how Dan Quinn does in his new role as Bradley's replacement. Luckily for the 12th Man, Quinn was in charge of the defensive line under Pete Carroll in He knows the personnel, and, more importantly, the drop-off should be nil. The bottom line for this group is threefold yes, I'm in a listy mood: The Packers ' D is decent now, but not stout enough to overcome Doesn't mean Greg Jennings is expendable. Is this a premium team? Houston Texans fans must be concerned with how this past season played out.

The club couldn't get past New England in the playoffs and really played poorly for much of December. I could see Houston going again or dropping a rung or two. Another postseason berth, another season-ender at Reliant. So what's in store for the Cincinnati Bengals in ? This club has been in the playoffs three of the past four seasons, yet can't get past the first round. Heading toward next season, the hope is that the kids continue to get better, starting with A.

Green , Andy Dalton and Jermaine Gresham. Don't sleep on third-round draft pick Mohamed Sanu, who really came on before getting hurt. Not because they won it in No, because they won it in despite having two of their key contributors Brian Orakpo and Adam Carriker miss almost the entire season. Having a healthy Orakpo on the defensive side of the ball is like having Kat Dennings return for another season on "2 Broke Girls.

The New Orleans Saints need to clear some cap space this offseason. Nonetheless, this non-playoff team could quickly turn into a contender in Sean Payton is back, the bounty scandal is in the past and these players just saw the Super Bowl played on their field. This is a new team, without the biggest distraction since Spygate -- and the McRib. Talk about never knowing what you're gonna get from a team From Super Bowl champs to postseason-free chumps. It was evident by midseason that Eli Manning had too much on his shoulders -- similar to Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay -- yet Eli didn't play as well.

It sure would help if Hakeem Nicks could ever stay healthy. The Indianapolis Colts have some core pieces, no question. The expectation here, however, is that Indy will take a step back. The magical season was just that. The Colts continually pulled out tight ballgames while getting blown out in losses. That's not to say this club falls to , but some of those squeakers will go the other way in The Colts were outscored by 30 points over the course of the season, and two of their most prominent players -- Robert Mathis and Dwight Freeney -- are getting long in the tooth.

Freeney, who didn't fit the new defensive scheme well, will likely be donning a new uni in They have some money to play with this offseason, so get ready for some Irsay tweetage. Will Monte Kiffin be an upgrade? That's a difficult question. Honestly, it's tough to evaluate Ryan's performance in , considering all of the injuries this team dealt with on the defensive side of the ball. During one game, Dallas lined up with just five of its original starters on D. That said, while Ryan has had one top defense in his career as a coordinator, Kiffin's Tampa Bay defenses finished in the top 10 during 11 of his 13 years with the Bucs to That's why Ryan has been out of work for a bit longer than five minutes.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are always in the running. The Steelers have finished or better in 12 of the past 13 seasons. So how much can they improve on 's. Whether fans are sick of hearing it or not, age is still an issue to be addressed on defense. James Harrison is likely gone. Troy Polamalu and Ryan Clark only have so much gas left in the tank at safety.

Where will Mike Wallace play in ? Who is the starter at tailback? In our last regular season Power Rankings , I predicted the Chicago Bears would surprise folks by pulling a name somewhat out of nowhere in their search for a new head coach. Marc Trestman certainly qualifies.

Can Trestman get more effectiveness from Jay Cutler? More productivity from Michael Bush? How about the O-line? Also, will new defensive coordinator Mel Tucker find a way to create turnovers the way Rod Marinelli 's defense did last season? Bears faithful, does the Trestman hire concern you? Like so many in my business, I was soooo wrong about the Minnesota Vikings. Didn't see coming. And I can't see a repeat of it now. Not unless Christian Ponder takes a giant step in his third year, and an even larger leap is made by the receiver corps.

Having Percy Harvin for 16 games instead of nine would be nice. Adrian Peterson going for 2, yards -- or at least 1. The club carries over some cap residual, leaving room to make tempered noise in free agency. Louis Rams fans have to like what they saw from this club in The potential is there.

I loved the way Jeff Fisher 's team competed in Seattle on the last day of the regular season -- a possible contender for our Top 20 Games of The organization met with Dick Jauron on Monday for its vacancy at defensive coordinator. Jauron was replaced by former Cardinals defensive coordinator Ray Horton in Cleveland last month, but I think he'll get the Rams gig. Ron Rivera held his job. Rob Chudzinski did not. Carolina's former offensive coordinator is now the lead dog in Cleveland, which is slightly relevant.

Drew Brees will like this pick. They like taking projects on the line and he is that. But he has a chance to be a quality starter in time. I don't like this pick. He's a solid box safety, but is he much more than that? He has to get stronger and I think he might need to move inside to guard. This kid has first-round talent. The Bills are killing it. He played tackle, but he will play center for them and will end up being a long-time starter.

He is a long corner, and they need a replacement for Aqib Talib. Can he hold up playing a lot of man like they do? O'Daniel is a smallish linebacker who will be a special-teams standout. Needs to get stronger. Carolina gets a TE2 for Norv Turner's offense. Thomas will be a better pro than he was in college. Active hands, some twitchiness but lacking burst off the snap. Best as pass-rushing nickel DT. Downfield threat for Watson. Good after the catch. Lacks size and strength. Could struggle to beat press coverage.

Fun, gadget RB with game-breaking speed. Doesn't run through many tackles. Lacks agility for his size. Flashes of premiere explosiveness but lanky frame and clear-cut off-field concerns. LB is a sneaky need for Denver. Jewell plays faster than his timed speed because of his quick play-recognition. Lengthy, seam-stretcher for Sam Darnold. Not twitchy, but long strides make him deceptively good after the catch. Needs work downfield and against pressure. Super athlete with size.

Not a great football player yet. Slow to react to run plays and route concepts. Can be overly grabby. Helps to fill a need in secondary. If he was bigger and a tick more athletic, he'd have gone on Day 2. Nice depth on aging OL. Similar style to Emmanuel Sanders. Crafty route-runner who can really separate. More speed at the LB spot. Needs to get stronger and better at defeating blocks. Nice size and length. Flashes of bend, but not consistent with his hands. Fair amount of power. Tons of needed investment in secondary, which is what TB needed.

Bradley gets more speed for this defense. White better at LB than S. Some blocking prowess but not a true people-mover. Not a separation TE and lacks speed. CB is sneaky need for the Bills, but where's the WR? Johnson was ultra productive at FCS level. Has speed issues but reacts quickly, sheds blocks, and thumps against the run.

Little early, but well-versed as a blocker.

Richardson plays with immense strength and has deceptively good feet. Thrives in pass protection. Clowney-like linear freak athlete. Powerful jolt with long arms. Embarrassment of riches up front on Eagles defense. Lacking in vision department. Has the ability to make acrobatic catches and high-point when coverage is tight. One-trick pony but will thrive downfield. Quality depth on loaded Rams DL. Stand-up LB with powerful hands he uses well.

Could add more weight and strength. Some flashes of quickness around the edge.

Has blocking experience but not good in that area. Hog Mollie draft continues for Gettleman. Good bulk and power. Top 10 talent with medical concerns.

Every NFL team’s 10-year record, ranked from 32 to 1

High-motor edge-rusher who's undersized but hyper energetic. Twitched-up slot CB who can play outside if need be. Shorter but very aggressive. Needs to get better at tackling. Ninkovich-type run-stuffing SAM linebacker. Not much pass-rushing ability. Large, physical high-pointer who has some separation ability. Will eat blocks to help the LBs. High-cut twitchy robber or box safety. Not super reliable in coverage. Plays slower than timed speed.

Active, between the tackles thumper. Nice landing spot behind loaded DL. Another box safety for Pittsburgh. Slow play-recognition skills, which hurts him in coverage. Tall, small-school outside CB. Aggressive on the outside coming downhill. Slot CB with excellent athleticism. Can be slow reacting to the play. Safety depth was major need for Bills. Neal is a downhill, hard-hitting specialist.

Battler on the inside. Good interior OL depth. Lacks athleticism and isn't overly fast. Flashes of plus burst. Doesn't play to his overall athleticism. Gets locked on many blocks. Will stretch the field in a big way. Nice add for Andrew Luck. Wins off the edge with burst, bend and wide array of pass-rushing moves.

Holds up well against run despite lack of height. Undersized linebacker who's fast but overly twitchy. Gets stuck on too many blocks. Decent after the catch. Too many drops on what should be easy catches. Super-quick, one-gap DT in a nose tackle's body. Can get washed out in run game. Nice added bulk for Washington.

Dynamic athlete who makes plays ranging from center field.

NFL Draft: Six Years Later | Football Outsiders

Ideal player as NFL shifts toward a positionless game. Good, not great in any area. Balance, powerful pass-pro punch. Overextended at times in Should start at RG in Buffalo. Carlson might be the best kicker in this draft. But it's a kicker. No need to draft one. With more strength, Jones can be a franchise LT.

Handled duties on an island well in Tall, bouncy runner who creates between the tackles and bounces off tackles. Lacks speed and twitchiness. Smaller CB who finds the football often because of his quick-twitch athleticism and speed. Could stand to add some strength. White has impressive arm talent and gets the ball out quickly. May have problems with press in NFL. Some twitchiness after the catch. Size, athleticism project who needs to be play with more urgency from snap to snap. Has to get stronger. Not much production in college. Kelly had flashes of supreme balance and YAC ability in the screen game, and he runs with a chip on his shoulder. Limited speed and lacking size. Long, heavy hands he uses well.

Not twitchy but powerful. Between the tackles thumper who can be overly aggressive at times, which takes him out of plays. Very aggressive knocking down passes. Lack of size is probably the reason he fell this far. Tall, wide nose tackle who can shed blocks against the run. Only flashes of pass-rush ability. Rare flashes of awesome athleticism and hand use. Tall, long outside cornerback with impressive linear athleticism but not very aware in coverage.

Nice depth on the outside. Impressive athleticism and he constantly battles. Needs to add more strength. San Fran is loading up on safeties. Harris is a vintage Florida safety. Lacks awareness and change of direction skill. Fun vertical threat with quality size and bulk. Flashes of dynamic YAC ability. Needs to be more consistent.

Decent YAC ability and had flashes of making plays down the field. But better WRs were on the board. Tall but very lax DB. Not a natural cover guy and very limited ability as a powerful tackler. Overachiever who's willing to throw his helmet in run support despite smaller size. Gets his hands on a fair amount of passes. Small and average athleticism. Some stiffness in man-to-man. As a run-stuffer and in short-intermediate ranges he? Big, twitchy for his size. Could carve out niche in red zone. Project, but this is the time to take one.

NFL OT size and length. Keeps his legs moving and has powerful punch. Plays out of control too often. NFL LB size and athleticism. Lacking quickness in play recognition. Gets stuck on blocks. Super athlete who excels with a runway in front of him and has outstanding leaping ability. Not much receiving ability. Should be better pro than he was in college. Active hands and nice burst. Should play three technique.

Needs to get stronger though. Aggressive style of play. Tenacity helps at times, hurts him against routes with multiple breaks. When healthy, this is a second- or third-round pick. Multiple lower-body injuries at Alabama. Cruises from sideline to sideline. Well-versed in the quick passing game. Accurate in short to intermediate ranges. Routinely folds under pressure.

More speed and athleticism on defense in Atlanta. Springy athlete with high motor. Crowded LB room though. Small, super-shifty back with plus acceleration. Glides through the second level and is hard to find among the trees. Nice RB to spell Kamara at times. Injury kept him off the field in High-energy run defender in Can hold up in coverage but not a super fluid athlete and lacks speed.

Lee has an above-average arm. Immense accuracy and decision-making issues. Electric, make-you-miss scat back. Must get bigger and stronger. Looks the part of a OLB and has dynamic flashes. But doesn't use his hands well and lacks strength. Landing with Wade Phillips is ideal for him. Tremendous size and length. Could shed some weight. Won't lose in power situations. Has trouble with quickness. Quality depth for Philly up front. Somewhat raw and not a change-of-direction WR but tantalizing size, explosiveness and open-field speed. Aaron Rodgers should be happy. Wilson is a true deep threat with a playing style similar to Jeremy Maclin.

Not as fast though. This is the field-stretcher Dallas needs. Not big but great linear speed and explosiveness. Will get his hands on a good amount of passes. Not twitchy enough to consistently create separation. Has above-average blocking ability. Flashed some receiving ability. Good prospect to take a flier on this late for Deshaun Watson. Raw project with requisite size and length. Played basketball in college. Must add weight and learn how to deal with counter moves. Good leg drive and grip strength. Must recognize twists quicker.

Stand up SAM with flashes of twitchiness and powerful hands. Not consistent getting off blocks and limited bend. He just blocks everything due to strength and wide, balanced base. Moved decently to second level on combos. When healthy, he was a playmaker who had above-average range and good pop on contact. Seemingly got slower as his college career progressed. Doesn't shed blocks consistently and can be a liability in coverage.

Tall, strong DE with freakish linear explosion. Needs to get more active with his hands and play as penetrator role. Mike Zimmer can get the most out of him. Etling lacks accuracy on any level of the field and gets overly antsy against pressure. Quick-release QB with above-average arm. Can scramble a bit. Not a natural pocket mover. Big, strong off-ball LB. Not overly productive in college. Better athlete than player at this point.

Flourished on the inside with hand use and burst. Consistently comes down with the football in tight coverage. Good, not great athlete. Quality add for Mitchell Trubisky this late. Tall, bulky off-ball linebacker. If he gets faster, he can be productive against the run. Not a twitchy athlete. Wins on inside runs with vision and subtle cutting ability.

Ideal type of player to grab this late.
