No Foolin (Willowdale Romance Novel)

One thing leads to another and they are both caught in a lie that's grown to gargantuan size! It's actually pretty funny! But, as you may have guessed, Teague is not your typical, shallow movie star. He has some personal issues to say the least. It seems to all come from the fact that he was given up for adoption when he was 2 years old.

He feels like his mom and dad just sort of threw him away and he's never let anyone close since then. I thought Teague's train of thought was a little wonky but when someone has issues that go back to childhood, there's usually no point in trying to make sense of them. Either way, Teague is known as a love 'em and leave 'em guy and he's just fine with that image, even if he DOES wish for more. I think Kate and Teague are perfectly matched, especially since they BOTH believe that they are not destined to fall in love.

Teague thinks that it's because he won't let anyone get close which is true and Kate thinks it's because it's just not in the cards for her.

  8. It was a lot of fun to watch each of them fight against the attraction they have for each other. Later, it was even better to see them denying that they were falling for each other. This book is ALL about denial!! I loved seeing them together and it was one of the things I really liked about this book. But I did have a couple of problems with this book. First, is the stepdad supposed to be like an "oh you forgetful rascal, you" or is he an asshole?

    No Foolin'

Because I thought he was an asshole. They way he neglects his daughters Kate and Dina is practically criminal and I pretty much hated him from the beginning. I hated him even more as the story went on. My second and last issue was the hokey-ness of the whole book. I get that it's called "No Foolin'" and that the author dropped the "g" on foolin for a reason.

Plus, the local eateries are called the Jelly Jar diner and the Kissin' Cousins diner? You have GOT to be effing kidding me. I'm sure that somewhere in the sticks, there's restaurants with ignorant names like that but do we really need to put that in print? I mean, it felt more like perpetuating a stereotype than anything else and that drives me nuts.

Overall, this was a pretty good book. Small town southern girl goes to Hollywood on the arm of a big Hollywood star? Lots of secrets and lies, where even the secrets have secrets!! You'll get some laughs and maybe a couple of tears but you'll certainly have some fun. I think anyone who likes contemporary romance will like this one.

Jun 01, Liz rated it liked it. No Foolin' is a romance novel about a confused young Hollywood badboy trying not to get too close to others, and a strong-willed country girl trying to deal with all that's thrown at her, both from her family and her personal issues. Teague Reynolds and Kate Riley become a fake couple after an unfortunate event with the paparazzi and the promise of the money Katie needs to help her family. The novel continues with Teague's and Kate's growing romance, as well as the "romance" between Katie's pregnant younger sister Dina and her baby daddy. After some bumps along the road, the novel eventually has its HEA. This novel is well-written, with good likeable main characters, hatable "bad" characters, a good plot, cute moments, happy moments, drama, and all that's needed in a good romance novel, but unfortunately I did not feel anything throughout the novel.

I didn't love or hate any characters, I just accepted them, I accepted the good moments without that wonderful pinch in my heart, and dealt with the misunderstanding climax without a single tear. Although this novel was wonderfully written cute story, I felt nothing for it. Anyways, that's just my personal opinion…for some reason this novel wasn't in sync with my heart and emotions.

I'd recommend this novel to anyone who finds the storyline interesting and hope that you connect with the story and characters even though I didn't. A copy of this novel was provided by the publisher through NetGalley in return for an honest review. Jan 25, Kimberly rated it liked it Shelves: Review featured on www. I enjoyed Teague and Kate a lot. The relationship they have it very sweet. Kate and her sister have a very low self-esteem which you can understand given their history but it is a bit of a downer after a while.

I actually started to feel sad for them both. I wanted Kate to have a least some confidence in herself but other than the fact that she knows Review featured on www. However, she also almost has a childlike quality when she learns new things.

    See a Problem?

She is really a interesting character in some ways good and some ways bad but still interesting. Teague is sweet and loving but he also has a youthfulness about him that should not be there for his age. He knows he is not what the papers say he is but he is not sure he can be what he wants to be. But, anyway, I liked him. Do not get me wrong. I liked the book. I truly enjoyed the day reading it and think anyone who enjoys the romance genre will enjoy it too.

I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. Among the chaos going on in her life it gets more complicated when Hollywood bad boy Teague "TRex" Reynolds hires her as his 'girlfriend' in order to avoid the press, but due to their denials about their feelings and staying strictly on business has gone a different course and fell in love which is my favourite part in the entire novel. This an amazing and fantastic way to start the Willowdale series, I also love the excerpt in the end for Man of the Month , Now I cannot wait to read it. The storyline is mainly concentrated on the key characters in each novel, but it would be nice to read about what happens with the other characters in the story.

At first I was rooting for Tonya and Tommy to get back together , but after learning of his 'true character' about being a Jerk he does not deserve to be with feisty Tonya , he should learn a lesson from his kid brother Mitch and try to rekindle the romance with his ex -wife Ellen. I just hope Tonya will find her own happiness in the end like Kate and Jeanne. It would be amazing if Ms. Scott can officially re-release No Foolin ' on paperback! I would love to have the hard copy version added to my growing library , the same goes for all the rest of your Willowdale series!!!!

Aug 22, Judy rated it it was amazing. Her job as the school nurse isn't enough to pay off her debts so when an offer comes to pretend to be a girlfriend for a month, how can she refuse? She just has to keep her heart safe from the handsome hunk. Teague Reynolds is known as T-Rex in Hollywood. Just like his namesake he stomps and shreds everything in his way. Well in his case it's the hearts of the women he dates and dumps. Now he has a secret in Willowdale and will do anything to keep it from the public eye. Having a girlfriend from the same town can only help his cause.

This story was full of unique characters who came to life on the pages of the book. And plenty of misunderstandings, things just are not always as they seem to be. Definitely a page turner that was hard to put down until the final words. There is a couple side stories happening as well. Three short stories that introduce the reader to this small town and some of the characters in this story. I personally enjoy series books and would recommend reading those first to have the whole story.

Book two in this series is Man of the Month. Jan 10, C. Collier rated it really liked it. Can a dream so intense and so Hollywood become happy-ever-after for Teague and Kate?

Not without banishing secrets and taking care of old business. Feb 02, DCT rated it really liked it. I picked up this story when it was a deal of the day. This was my first book by this author, the synopsis sounded fun and the price was right. I always love the stories when a small town girl get to meet a movie star or rock star because they are fun to follow and what girl doesn't have a fantasy of having a famous hottie fall for her.

Well this story was fun to watch, because not only did we get the boy meets girl factor along with the angst of the inner workings of show business, but the chara I picked up this story when it was a deal of the day.

Read Lisa Scott – The Willowdale Romance Series

Well this story was fun to watch, because not only did we get the boy meets girl factor along with the angst of the inner workings of show business, but the characters had interesting family dynamics that made the players more dimensional. There was good humor, interesting characters and a sweet romance, an overall enjoyable read. As the tension between them builds, one reckless night threatens to change everything between them forever.

Just noticed this comment. I love these books and was wondering when the next book featuring Tonya? Thank you for your time!
