This is a review of the kindle edition. The content of this book is excellent, gives priceless insights into our Lord's greatest teaching. I am finding, however, that there are an excessive number of spelling errors and even sections where whole sentences or parts of sentences missing, which makes the thoughts and ideas very hard to follow.

I do wish this could have been edited better and these eliminated. One person found this helpful. Hughes' never lets me down. This is the fourth or fifth commentary I've purchased from this wonderful author. A simple read, nothing profound.

I liked Stott's a little better and am just reading Scott McKnight's commentary which is a little more detailed and broad, I think. There are many books on the Sermon on the Mount. If you want a great overview with superb practical applications- then this is a book to read. He along with Dr. A Carson and Dr.

Martyn Lloyd-Jones have written tremendously helpful books on Matthew Lloyd-Jones's is two volumes in one and perhaps the best book I've ever read, Dr.

Carson's is much shorter with quick overviews which give a great introduction to the Sermon on the Mount and Dr. Hughes's book in in the middle- not too long, not too short. He keeps your attention and I found it solid, extremely interesting and practical. This was a great commentary and made me more appreciative of this wonderful Sermon that Jesus gave His disciples. Great, easy to understand commentary. Worth the expense for sure. Good illustrations and stories for points being made.

Kent Hughes has the insightful and gifted ability to succinctly capture the truth and relevance of the Biblical text in so few words and his applications are unbelievably rich. The book is a must for any pastor and teacher who wants to feed his soul. The other reason I bought the book was to help in my preparation for teaching through the Beatitudes.
