Runaway Virgin (The Edge Series Book 18)

Grant is aged better with time and then some. I have no doubt that Neva will love that man till his you Oh, L. I have no doubt that Neva will love that man till his you know what, is sore and in need of a break. I loved this story. However, I happen to enjoy any book that incorporates any use of Dominance and the other party showing obvious submission. It is hot, it is alluring, and without the bondage elements, for me, makes it that much hotter.

The fact that you are TOLD what to do, and you must comply with no assistance—yummy to the tenth power. Well written, quick, and with excellent character development in a short story! Dean has a great voice, and pacing for such a short story. She does the erotica genre proud with this one! Apr 08, Pam rated it liked it Shelves: I wanted a man big enough to handle anything, and experienced enough to know how to do it right. I got this as a free bundle on amazon, I thought it was the same couple in each story, but nope I was wrong, it's about four "couples" and their one night at Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

Super duper short read as all 4 stories I 3 short stars " Super duper short read as all 4 stories I read in less than an hour. I usually don't read super short novella's but this actually was really good. It wasn't in your face wam-bam-thank-you-mam and full of cheezy-sleezy sex scenes, it was actually well done. Apr 12, Kelly rated it really liked it Shelves: Hot biker dudes who are all about bringing their lady friends to completion?

Not going to lie, I liked this one. There's something to be said for the innocent girl going ofter the guy who gets her motor revving. Neva doesn't let her nerves get in the way and Grant is tough enough to fit the bill for what she needs. Short and sweet and I liked it! Apr 21, T. Each of the stories in the anthology were quick min reads. Not my style, as I like plots and detailed stories, but they were well done for their genre. May 14, Charlene rated it really liked it. Martin's Press, and their advance reader copies are generally well done by the time I get my hands on them, but that wasn't true in the case of this book--it was hot mess. Even as I continued reading, struggling to figure out who was who, I still couldn't get a handle on what was going on or why, and, at 2: I do hope that all the issues I had with my copy of Close to the Edge were found and corrected before final publication, and should this author begin a new series at some future date, I'd welcome the opportunity to get in at the beginning.

I will reiterate, this novel is in no way a standalone. Feb 24, Cathy Geha rated it liked it. Action-packed and at times dark but in the end all is okay for the hero and heroine of this book The romance between Dare and Jenna and some of the action in the story seems a bit farfetched but it did make for an interesting story.

One bad guy is in jail by the end of the story and another is probably being set up for something or other that will transpire in the future. Dare and Jenna eventually find a HEA together and the story is prepared to take off again in book six when it is ready to be published. Knowing this was an ARC I still had trouble getting into the book.

Then, when I finished the book I realized the first chapter of the book for some reason was at the end and the ARC began with chapter two. Reading the first chapter first would definitely have helped the book to flow more easily ; That said, I still managed to read and understand and figure the story out. Did I enjoy the story? Yes Was it totally believable? No Do I want to read the next book in the series?

Yes Do I recommend the book? Yes, but do think having read previous books in the series would be helpful. Thank you to NetGalley and ST. Feb 24, Eva Millien rated it really liked it. Alpha male dominance clashes with fiery female passion with strong, sexy and sizzling attraction mixing things up for this couple which really has sparks flying in every direction.

Suspense builds throughout the steady to fast paced plot full of danger and thrills as Dare tries to keep his client alive even though she fights him every step of the way. Jan 30, Kathy Martin rated it really liked it. Jenna Henson finds herself involved with very secret agents from a covert government organization when she goes to Kirkland Grog's house as a substitute chef for her best friend who is a caterer.

She walks right in on a team of agents who are bugging the house to try to get evidence that Kirkland is a criminal who specializes in human trafficking. For some unknown reason, Kirkland decides to eliminate her which sort of baffled me since he wasn't home when she arrived, she was subdued by the good guys almost immediately, and removed from the scene. Luckily, the good guys had chipped her like a puppy which let them know when Kirkland's men kidnapped her.

Dare Servant should have been able to treat her like any other witness but somehow she got to this dedicated agent. He knows he isn't good for her since he is married to his very dangerous job. But Jenna needs protection and Dare wants to provide it. This story had hot romance and creepy villains.

There was action and adventure in a twisty plot. I read an eARC of this book and had some problems that will, hopefully, be corrected before the book is published. The book has been run through a spellchecker and the spellings are correct but there are a number of cases where the wrong word was chosen for the sentence.

Sometimes this was amusing and sometimes it was confusing. Fans of romantic suspense will enjoy this story which nicely balances the romance and the suspense. Close to the Edge by Dawn Ryder was an action packed romantic suspense that intrigued me but also left me confused. Since I had not read any of the previous books in this series, I felt like I was missing something since I couldn't relate to many of the secondary characters in this story.

Nor did I understand why Jenna had been chipped and was in protective custody. Dare and Jenna were both strong characters and Jenna grew by leaps and bounds as this story progressed. Dare set my teeth on edge at Close to the Edge by Dawn Ryder was an action packed romantic suspense that intrigued me but also left me confused. Dare set my teeth on edge at first but I did warm up to him as the story unfolded.

The sparks flying between Dare and Jenna were palpable; but I confess that I wasn't convinced that Dare could actually give up his life with his Ops team. The story was quickly paced but didn't flow smoothly as there were several threads concerning Kirkland and Davis that were intertwined in this story from the previous books. There was also a mini-cliffhanger at the end which I am sure sets up the next book in this series.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book from St. Martin's Paperbacks via NetGalley. All of the above opinions are my own. Close to the Edge is a fast-paced, complicated action intense military romantic suspense. Special Op Dare Servant is an alpha male who doesn't believe in happily ever after but this does not deter spunky, petite combustion specialist Jenna Henson from going toe to toe with him.

It's been a while since I have read a book with such a strong female lead. Jenna Henson is not intimidated by person or circumstance. Don't worry there are plenty of hot steamy scenes between Dare and Jenna.

You know imme Close to the Edge is a fast-paced, complicated action intense military romantic suspense. You know immediately who the good guys and the bad guys are but that does not take away from wanting to find out how the bad guys get theirs in the end. I greatly enjoyed this book and would recommend it to fellow reader fans of military romantic suspense. Kirkland is the one who is responsible for funneling the money that is paving the way for Carl Davis to win the presidency. Carl is an evil man who condones all sorts of sins and the worst being that he supports human trafficking, he will accept almost any actions that support his goals and his first priority if he lands in the White House is to dismantle the Special Ops teams. Dare and his team know that they need to stop Carl from winning the presidency for soooo many reasons.

If they were successful in taking Kirkland out of the game that would go a long way in achieving their goals. Unfortunately, Kirkland is a slippery S. That was until they crossed paths with Jenna Henson, Kirkland wants Jenna eliminated and that makes her useful as bait. Jenna was just in the wrong place at the wrong time and that put a bullseye squarely on her back and straight into the arms of one Special Agent Servant.

It was lust at first sight for these characters but Dare was not interested in anything beyond one-night stands and being around Jenna was quite the challenge because she made him want more. As things heated up between them, and the lines of the mission were blurred, Dare was going to be challenged between following orders or following his heart. While reading this story I found that the overarching plot was still going strong. There was a victory of some sorts by the end of this story and that was nice.

At the same time though there was a twist that may possibly be taking the story in a different direction than what I had anticipated and I am keen to see where that goes. Dare was doing his job and his treatment of Jenna was not the best at times, I get that. What bugged me was her reactions to him. She got over his behaviors really easily because she was in such lust with him, hmmmm, no, just no.

I understand that there were in a high stakes situation but the ease with which she shrugged off his abhorrent behavior, I just found myself not respecting her character at all. I did feel his struggles as he tried to uphold his job yet at the same time try and understand his reactions to Jenna. What I liked best about Jenna was her friend Sam, I loved his character and I wish he had more time in this story.

I loved his devotion to her as a friend and he never stopped advocating for her. There was just not enough time spent with his character! As always, I liked the supporting characters from the Ops team as they added comic relief to a story that dealt with the rather dark subject of sexual slavery. There are several scenes where forced sexual acts are taking place but they are not described in such detail that it is traumatizing to the reader. It could make some readers uncomfortable though because it is pretty awful to consider, just a warning. Close to the Edge is the fifth book in the Unbroken Heroes series and this is definitely a series that must be read in order to get the most out of it.

I had read the previous book in this series, Take to the Limit, and because of that I can say that there were parts of Close to the Edge that made sense to me but only because I had read the previous book. There would need to be more detailed explanations of backgrounds and previous subplots in order for this book to be able to stand on its own. Despite not loving the romance element in this story, I am absolutely going to continue in this series because I have to know what happens next between Carl and the Special Ops! This review is based on a complimentary book I received from NetGalley.

It is an honest and voluntary review. The complimentary receipt of it in no way affected my review or rating. This book has not only done that, it has also successfully drawn a clear picture of the places where the characters are. I can imagine the characters moving in a specific environment. My issue with the book is its story flow. I have read uncorrected proof copies before but I only encounter typographical errors. On this one, I noticed a concern in its transitions. We follow the story from different points of view; it does not only come from the main characters.

On the other hand, I enjoyed the fact that the story did not concentrate heavily on the romance of the main characters. Altogether, my reading experience was fun; I only needed to keep up with the transitions. If you want a bit of romance element in your action book readings, this is a good choice. The girl is not a damsel-in-distress but she acknowledges the fact that she needs the protection the Shadow Ops provide.

Her thoughts and choices are somehow relatable. Jun 15, Reen rated it really liked it Shelves: I struggled with the beginning of this book and looked for the first chapter thinking they were out of order but did not realize until the end of the book that it was at the end. I started a little confused but picked up the storyline which was complex and engaging.

It is very entertaining when Jenna calls him out on it. Jenna is a girl in the wrong place at the wrong time but is no shrinking violet. A good romantic suspense story. Feb 16, Christine rated it did not like it Shelves: DNF by the end of the first chapter, which I never do! So either I read the most confusing first chapter ever or there is a missing Chapter One. Either way, I was left with far too many questions and not enough answers to understand what was going on: Why did Dare put a chip in Jenna's shoulder?

Why is Jenna under surveillance by Dare's team? How did Dare not notice the guy watching him kiss Jenna? This was either a case of bad formatting or jumping into a series mid-way.
