Dragon-Ridden (Dragon Ridden Chronicles Book 1)

I loved also that in this book we get to delve into the backgrounds and histories of two of our other favorite characters, Dewdrop and Ryu. I can truly promise you will not regret it! I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. I devoured the three books in this series in just under 2 days and am anxiously awaiting the fourth! There were a lot of answers and progression on the overarching story line that I really appreciated.

Dragon-Ridden

We learn more about Ryu and Dewdrop as well as the other Dragon Ridden which was nice. It also opened up a whole bunch of new questions I look forward to having answered. There were a few inconsistencies that kind of bothered me what really happens with their clothing or do they spend a lot of time naked without anyone really blinking an eye? I love the different relationships in this series and all the "strays" that get added. You won't be disappointed reading this series!

Let me preface this by saying that I received an ARC of this book by the author, in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. I loved reading the third installment of the Dragon Ridden Chronicles and following on another adventure with Tate and her friends.

It was great to see the author delve deeper and reveal more about Tate's past and I loved loved loved the interactions between Ryu and Tate I want more! But I'm also glad the author is building on this relationship slowly. The world building is great, the actions and dialogue between the characters funny and snarky and we're introduced to more characters who have to learn to deal with Tate and her propensity to get caught up in sticky situations.

T A White writes head strong, take charge heroines which I really love. So if you also love strong characters, great world building, and witty dialogue, I would highly recommend this book and other works by this author.

See a Problem?

I feel like we got a better understanding of Tate and her extraordinary past in Dragon Ridden than in book 2, Of Bone and Ruin. It is that back story that has the greatest draw for me. So my biggest fear is that the author will tease only hints about the past in the vaguest way while writing an ever expanding and convoluted succession of sequels. I hope I am wrong.

I hope that each book helps to shed light onto the origins of this world and is complicated past. I find this world to be an interesting mix of sci-fi and fantasy.

There is magic and genetic engineering. There are archaic elements to the civilizations mixed with more modern ideas, dress, manners, and language. It is different and that is perhaps the element that will bring me back for a third book — should another be written.

I am a partially employed Canadian science teacher with visions of grand travel and incredible adventures. Let male and female characters exist as they are without an exposition dump. Sprinkle in world and character building across the series. I need not know everything all at once. Write a complete story with a beginning, middle, and an ending. Be confident in your characters and larger world building. People will read more because they like what you wrote not because you left them on a cliffhanger.
