Introduction to the Compleat Angler

The bookplate possibly belongs to the same Cartwright Vickers that wrote The Google Book, an illustrated book of children's verse. With the Angler's calendar to the rear of the work. This work is edited and with an introduction by Richard Le Gallienne. Illustrated throughout by Edmund H New. The Compleat Angler was first published in but went through several alterations and additions. It is a celebration of art and spirit of fishing in prose and verse. In a full crushed morocco binding with gilt stamped detailing to board edges and to spine. Externally, excellent with minor shelfwear to the head and tail of spine.

Harrap, Pictorial gilt-stamped blue cloth in original dust jacket. A very nice copy! Half brown leather with gilt titles and decorations on spine. Green cloth panels and marbled endpapers. It is solid and the covers are in good condition with some splitting inside along the spine. The pages have normal toning and are clean and the illustrations are great. This is a very scarce book and featuresWalton and cotton on the frontispiece with its protective cover.. Oxford University Press, Hard covers, dust jacket. Jacket worn at edges, but untorn, in protective plastic cover; internally near fine.
