Jun 10, Michelle rated it it was ok Shelves: The story was interesting and very much bathed in faerie lore. I didn't really know that it had so much to do with faeries and when I started to read it, I was a bit confused. The characters were interesting, but not really fleshed out too much. The romance was a bit fast, but in the end it turned out not too bad. And under his heated gaze, despite the danger swirling around them, Mairead finds herself tempted, taunted, and tantalizingly seduced At age 11, Alex Sinclair pledges an oath to the Duke of Chatham promising to serve and protect his illegitimate daughter, Lucy FitzHarris. Nine years later, the duke unexpectedly takes Alex up on his vow, offering the future Laird of Balforss his daughter's hand in marriage. Now a man, hotheaded Alex has difficulty convincing Lucy - who would rather starve to death than marry a vulgar Scot - to go through with the arranged marriage.

Merry Stewart has had enough! Enough of her brothers, whose behavior would make even the most improper lady blush. Enough of their Highland home, which would surely have fallen to ruin were it not for her. She dreams of escaping into the arms of her betrothed, Alexander d'Aumesbery-even though they haven't yet met.

But when they do, Merry is devastated. It seems he's no better than the men in her family. Athena Trappes thinks she's in love Enraged, she does what any spirited Englishwoman would do: With nowhere else to turn, she seeks freedom in the wilds of Scotland. Highland Laird Symon Grant lost his wife years ago, and it's his duty to find another.

The Highlander’s Bride

Athena is not exactly what the clan has in mind for him, but Symon's heart burns with unexpected passion for the woman who would risk everything to be free. Lady Averill Mortagne learned to control her fierce temper as a young girl. But if her father insists on parading her before one more English lord who looks askance at her flame-colored hair, she'll simply scream!

Her only respite is the time she spends with Kade Stewart, the wounded Scot her brother brought home from the Crusades.

What is Kobo Super Points?

Who could have imagined a Highland warrior would be the only gentleman around? Annabel was about to take the veil to become a nun, when her mother suddenly arrived at the abbey to take her home She knows nothing about being a wife, nothing about how to run a household, and definitely nothing about the marriage bed. From the moment Ross MacKay sets eyes on Annabel, he is taken with his shy, sweet bride But when an enemy endangers her life, he'll move the Highlands themselves to save her.

Highland warrior Cameron MacLeod's mission for the king has just gone dangerously awry, and the best chance he has of saving it is the fair-haired beauty he encounters during the ambush. Injured during the battle, the enchantress has lost her memory, but Cameron harbors one of her. Long ago, a seer foretold that this woman had the power to destroy him. He's confident he's not so weak as to succumb to her charms, but the mysterious woman soon proves herself brave, guileless, and after one foolish, searing kiss, impossible to resist.

Known for his wicked wit, fierce loyalty, and skills in battle, Robert "Rebbie" MacInnis, the Earl of Rebbinglen, loves freedom and has no plans to marry anytime soon. But when his father signs a contract betrothing Rebbie to an earl's young daughter, he is furious. If he has to marry, he's determined to choose his own bride, though he has no inkling who he would wish to wed until fate intervenes to remind him of one fair-haired, nameless beauty and the passionate night they spent together.

Magnus "Strath" Sutherland, laird of Dornoch, refuses to marry after being betrayed by his betrothed's father. Needing to distance himself from the Highlands, he accepts a commission at the Scottish border by the king, where he must squelch an English lord's plans to lay siege.

What he finds is the Scots' enemy about to wed a most alluring English lass. What better way to torment his enemy than by defeating his army and stealing his beautiful bride? Declan Sinclair is a Highlander who believes his dreams never lie. When he spots Caya at a public house, he knows instantly she is the woman in his dreams - his future wife. Though her brother had promised never to gamble again, he engages Declan in a card game - and the prize is the lovely Caya. Sir Niall Oliphant was betrothed to the Bruce's daughter, Princess Elizabeth, until she declares that his wound in battle has incapacitated him as a man.

Highland Bride

Because he does not wish to marry the spoiled royal, he is glad to pass her off to his brother Sir Walter. He's more than content to fade into the background with his injuries and remain a bachelor forever. Until he is presented with an offer from the Earl of Sutherland to marry his only daughter, a lass more beautiful than any other, who makes him want to stand up and fight again. Betrayed by her father, Marsaili Campbell risks her life to recover what he has stolen from her.

But when she's kidnapped and wagered away, she has no one to help her escape other than the very man she's spent the past three years trying to forget; Highland warrior Callum Grant. She once gave her heart and her innocence to the handsome Scot, only to regret her naive decisions.

Still, with more enemies than she can battle alone, she needs an ally, even if she must hide the truth of her circumstances from him. Laird Callum Grant thrust his clan into war for the love of a woman, only to lose her forever. Darach MacKenzie vowed never again to let a woman near his heart after his betrothed betrayed him. It sparked an intense feud between his clan and the Frasers, and now he can't be distracted - not even by a sweet and charming lass who desperately needs his help.

When Darach rescued Caitlin MacInnes from the clutches of vile Laird Fraser, she vowed to never let men or misery rule her life again. With Darach and the MacKenzie clan, Caitlin finally feels safe. Scarred by the cruel whims of her late husband, Lena MacLeod lives in fear of men and marriage. So when the king's edict obliges her to wed Scottish warrior Alex MacLean, she never expects to feel safe, let alone happy. But behind Alex's fierce exterior lies a gentle, gallant highlander who renews her soul, emboldens her, and offers her the one thing she never thought she would possess - true love.

Now that Alex has her whole heart, she'll settle for nothing less than all of his. Highland laird Conor McTiernay had always dreamed of an enduring love. But the reality of women who desired him only for his title and lands made him swear off marriage forever.
