I smiled, this was going to be one fun weekend! I would of probably have given this a solid 4 stars but Ethan was way too sensitive for me, I like my men with a little more bite. Gia was fun even though at times she was a bit stubborn, loved the setting of the book. All in all it was a cute steamy read about a broken girl just wanting to feel but there is a book two, and although there is more, it wasn't that bad of a cliff hanger, just enough to let you know that there's gonna be more.

I have issues with hubby leaving because she couldn't get pregnant. I mean haven't you heard of adoption, surrogacy. He didn't love her enough if you ask me. She is going out for a 3 day weekend with her girls and wants to have a hot and steamy goodtime. She meets Ethan, who has wanted her for about 10 years. I am on to book 2. This was a very quick read, but overall a good book. Gia is a basically a good girl who likes to have fun.

Ethan has been struggling to turn a profit on the camp ground that was once his grandfather's and this years annual rock festival is looking pretty good.

With high expectations of a profit this year, Ethan also has one other thing on his mind Not even knowing her name, but naming her "Hottness", Ethan seeks to finally approach this woman and get to know her. When the opportunity arrives and the two meet, Gia feels like she's the only person in his world by the way he looks at her, and Ethan is captivated by her beautiful eyes and she is everything and more than what he was expecting.

However, what they both need and desire seems to be complete opposites of each other and thus creates a problem for both. Ethan realizes that Gia is looking for that one night stand when in fact he really wants to get to know her, however Gia feels both turned on and rejected by Ethan due to his reluctance to want to rush into sex, but it's what she really wants. Finally deciding to give Gia what she wants, Ethan caves. After their awesome sexual encounter in his office, Gia has a moment of reflection as things aren't how she thought they would be.

I was really enjoying the story, especially Gia's personality once she made up in her mind that she was going to get what she wanted one way or another. I also expected a little more from Ethan in the form of an alpha male but I didn't necessarily get that. Ethan was just a really sweet guy, who really wanted to "do the right thing", I sort of felt like the author was holding back on his character. I was also left feeling like where's the rest of the story at the end. There was no lead into a sequel, though I'm certain there will be one, but the story just cut off I also would like more on Trey and Dana as there is definitely a blossoming relationship with them.

I would like to read more and hopefully the author really gets into developing the plot for Gia and Ethan. Aug 27, Ann Stewart rated it really liked it. Rocker Chick meets Hot Gentleman. Ethan wants nothing more than to get to know the mysterious girl that captivated him years ago. This story shows that time has no bounds when it comes to undeniable attraction.

Gia's search for something other than what's she's known from past relationships comes to a dead end once she allows herself to give into Ethan. He wants nothing more than to take care of her. Gia wants nothing more than to forget her past. Easy to read and a great rocker theme to the plot Rocker Chick meets Hot Gentleman.

Easy to read and a great rocker theme to the plot line. Interesting format of book; going between Gia's and Ethan's POV for the same scenes gave the reader an understanding of the situation from both perspectives. Dec 26, Florcdom rated it did not like it. Demasiado poco tiempo para fundar una historia jugosa. Lamentablemente la escritora parece una adolescente que escribe un fanfiction con su actor favorito.

Aug 20, Daisy Sloan rated it it was ok Shelves: This story was OK. I had a really hard time connecting with the MC. The author did a good job of letting us know when the POV changed. The first time it happened I didn't realize we had moved back in time and it confused me. Once I figured that out, it worked. Aug 25, Tiffany Readz rated it really liked it. It is way too short. The story has somewhere to go, it just took a while to get there and then BAM!

There is a sexual warning, however the sex was pretty minuscule. I am hoping the sexy Ethan will show us some more of his moves in book two. This book was pretty much the set up, so there is a lot about her past and her girlfriends before we get to the n It is way too short. This book was pretty much the set up, so there is a lot about her past and her girlfriends before we get to the nitty gritty of the story, which is pretty much the last chapter.

Gia needs a girls night out after moving one from a bad marriage and thankfully there is a rock festival to fill that need for her. Add that to a three day weekend and Gia has it made. Personally I thought it sounded fun, Gia and her besties getting all 80's rock glammed up to hang and listen to music for the weekend. They weren't necessarily on a mission to get laid, but all the better if they did. Gia meets Ethan while he is working behind the bar and he buys her and her friends a round of drinks. She zeros in on him for her one night stand, little does she know he actually wants more.

Ethan has been to the rock festival for the last nineteen years and for ten of those years he has seen Gia there. He admired her from afar as he noticed the wedding ring, but this year it was different-no ring.

Ethan decides to finally approach Gia, only to find out she really isn't in to the whole dating thing, more of a wham-bam-thank-you-mam fits her for the weekend. I liked the premise of the book, my only complaint would be the length. Just as the story got good, we were done. Although I did see the next one will be out in a few months, I like a bit more in one sitting.

Jan 28, Ana Bierle czernek rated it did not like it. The synopsis sounded really good, but the dialogue in the second half of the story wasn't believable and I couldn't buy into the progression of their relationship. Additionally, I hadn't realized that this was only a page installment. His and Ethan I liked this book. I felt that a lot of the story was repeated when Gia and Ethan were telling their story.

I will read the second book so I can follow Gia and Ethan. I would recommend this book. Mar 06, Andrea rated it did not like it. Una historia bastante mala e infantil para mis gusto. Con una amor que sucede un fin de semana. Me parece bastante absurdo la verdad. Mar 16, C.

Albert rated it liked it. As someone who loves discovering great new Indie authors, I will often give free books a chance. I was pleasantly surprised with Wilder's writing style and the way she broke free of molds with her characters. Instead of the aggressive male lead, her main character, Gia, is the aggressor in this novel -- and Ethan, the sweet concert owner, was the one who wanted to give her more in the relationship than just a weekend I was introduced to Desiree Wilder when Losing Control was a freebie on Amazon.

Book Review: The Pencils of Promise Story

Instead of the aggressive male lead, her main character, Gia, is the aggressor in this novel -- and Ethan, the sweet concert owner, was the one who wanted to give her more in the relationship than just a weekend quickie. While the writing was smooth and the book was an easy read I literally flew through it in about a day and a half , I found myself feeling a little like the story was rushed at the end.

    2. AFTER THE GAME.
    3. The Loser Attitude.
    4. While Gia does finally come around and expose her vulnerability, parts of the book felt underdeveloped and I would've liked to see Wilder flush out the plot lines a little better. It felt too short once she got to the good parts with Ethan -- which after all, is the whole point of the book. Do note, this is book one in a series, and it looks like Wilder does expand the plotline more in future books. That said, I'm not a big fan of the shorter, novelette-style reads that leave you hanging and feeling like something is missing unless you read book two.

While it is okay to have a series, and leave some things for future books, the first book should still be flushed out enough and be perfectly fine as a stand alone book. While this one kind of is, the end would be considered highly underdeveloped and rushed without reading the remaining books in the series. And that's not my cup-of-tea with romance or any other novels. So, overall, I did like the book. Perfect for a bubble bath or beach day or in my case, carpool line! And I probably will read more of Wilder as I think there is a ton of potential here. I just hope more romance authors move away from this type of "series" novelettes and just do the entire novel justice from the start or as a stand alone.

Losing Control is about a weekend that Gia spends with her close friends at a rock festival. When they finally meet, will sparks fly and romance bloom or is Gia intent on only having a goodtime with her friends? The story line wa This was such a cute short story that I easily devoured in just a little bit of time! The story line was especially interesting with the focus not being on one of the rock stars but rather the guy putting the entire event together.

And Ethan is sweet, caring and determined to show Gia that she deserves something special. But just like I loved this book. But just like Ethan we don't know until Gia feels it is time to tell. That is what keeps your reading in this book and the love that Ethan continues to show her. Oct 17, Keri rated it really liked it Shelves: Another shorter book but I really liked it. This one showed more of the relationship between Ethan and Gia. You see them connecting more and their feelings for one another. We also get to see more into poor Gia's past and what she has gone through.

I sure hope there is a book 3 in the making though or I am going to be disappointed. I feel like the ending is more of a cliff hanger than it is a final ending. We need to see if and how they get through Gia's problems and the process they go through Another shorter book but I really liked it. We need to see if and how they get through Gia's problems and the process they go through to become a real couple in love. Please, please, please let there be a 3!!!!!

Sep 24, Rita rated it really liked it Shelves: Wow, this was good. I cannot believe how that ended. No closure at all. I don't see book three anywhere in sight. That was refreshing getting to see a male so sensitive and direct about his feelings. Gia needs some serious help. I am getting pieces of her past; I am ready to know what happened. Will Lex come back into the picture? If he does, he needs a thorough smack down. This is good stuff. I can't wait for the next one. Nov 26, Karen marked it as abandoned.

I got about halfway through and couldn't make myself finish this.

      1 Corinthians 9:25

The first person narration alternates between the hero and heroine, and in both cases the language is stilted and flat. There's a lot of telling and not much showing. Also, they flush their condoms down the toilet, and that's annoying. I'm glad they're using them, but flushing is not the proper disposal method. Nov 22, Susan rated it really liked it. I sometimes wish a book that leaves you wondering what happens next told me that before I purchased it. While I prefer series books I also prefer books to leave me with a conclusion rather than a what happens next. That being said I did enjoy the story and will eventually buy the next book in the series to find out hopefully what happened to the characters and also why.

This was another very quick read. Books 1 and 2 together only cover a 5 day period. But much to say, wasn't a bad book. I did feel like I needed more though. Plus it ended in an almost cliffhanger I wish there had been an epilogue since I haven't seen talk of another book. May 14, Lindsay rated it liked it. I liked the first book a little bit better than the second book. There was something forced in the second book. I can't quite put my finger on it. I feel like the chemistry was so much better in the first book. The potential is there for these books to be great though!
