The Smartest Girl in the Room (The New Pioneers Book 1)

Written by Deb: The Smartest Girl in the Room (Book 1 of The New Pioneers)

Drew initially fools her into thinking he is a good guy, but soon his true colors begin to emerge. This is a charmingly observant look at relationships, friendship, and romance. The story is set in Boston. As I read, I got a great feel for student life on the small Boston campus. I never much warmed up to Mitch again after that first royal debacle. Thankfully, at least, Emily did not make it easy for Mitch to worm his way back into her affections. Personally, I think he should have been kicked to the curb, but you decide, maybe you will feel more charitable.

I downloaded this book from Amazon during a "Free" promo. Nov 24, Dayreader Reviews rated it really liked it. I was gifted this book by the author thank you in exchange for an honest review. I did that very thing.

Emily is a stressed out 19 year old college student, that's where the normal college student part of her ends.

She has a hard life, she has always had to take care of herself. She is very vulnerable, so she turns a blind eye toward some signs about people she trusted and thought were her friends. To be the smartest girl in the room, she really lack in socially and emotional situations.

I just wanted to mother her and be there for her. Mitch, really was a great guy but he had his faults. He did break Emily's heart and I kind of understand his reasoning He got kind of burned in return not by Emily. Even with all that happen Mitch still remained one of my favorite characters. Nam-Krane really did the young adult theme well.

I'm nowhere near that age but I do have kids that age. I feel like she got it right, with all the stress of college and still trying to make time for a life. I enjoyed this book and can't wait to read the rest of the series. I know the author and have been hosted on her blog. I received an advanced review copy of The Smartest Girl in the Room and this has not influenced my review.

Emily is a kind warm-hearted and intelligent character who takes care of everyone around her. She has a wonderful cast of friends around her and forms some tight relationships with new ones throughout this journey. When Mitch breaks her heart Emily, naturally down about it, is off her game.

She ends up in a fight with her Mom and leaves home. She meets another guy who is not what he appears to be and takes advantage of her vulnerability. Emily is in trouble. But Emily's not one to be backed into a corner. Aug 28, Caroline Fardig rated it it was amazing. I truly enjoyed every moment of this book. The characters and their dilemmas definitely took me back to my college years!

Aug 06, Genevieve Scholl rated it really liked it. While I sort of felt like we came into the middle of it, I really enjoyed it. I can really relate to Emily, in the way that I am also the kind of person to stay in by myself. I really enjoyed the different emotions that came across the pages; humor, shyness, etc- It really seemed real. Well written, in spite of a few issues, it was really easy to join the characters on their journey. I would recommend it to anyone. Oct 10, Mayas rated it really liked it. This book was full of drama, lessons, and growing-up.

I couldn't stop reading because I wanted to put all the pieces together and see if there will be an HEA.. Emily was book smart but naive when it came to many things that made her strong and a true friend.

Determined to forget about Mitch, Emily throws herself into school, friendships, and a new relationship with a boy who progresses from lackluster to downright despicable over the course of the book. The story of Emily which is full of interesting stuff and topic. I love how the author made some topics if we discussed it in real life interesting and fun. The characters, Emily and Mitch are interesting. I love on how the way the characters think and the way they are easy to relate with is good. The banter of the characters are also interesting. The way the two talked to each other made the story more fun and easy to relate with. The story, it's good. I love how the concept was written and the flow of the story is easy to understand and to catch up with.

There are times that I want to punch Mitch but well, as the story goes he's good. Anyway, all in all, the story and the characters are good, well written and interesting. • So even though this book wasn't my type of book, it was very well written. The way the author brings the characters to life is good. The descriptions are there as well. At times I felt that it was dragging and found myself skipping through some of the chapter. There are twist and turns that readers will like. I would recommend this book to others.
