Years later they get a second chance at love - but can they overcome the bitterness of the past? This story seemed like a bit of a departure to me; if I'd read it blind I would have guessed that the author was someone like Susan Sizemore, perhaps because it reminded me a bit of her On a Long Ago Night.

But while the story of lovers separated by another's cruelty is not exactly new, in this case it is very enjoyable and moving. I thought at first that the time shifts would be confusing in a short story, but everything flowed smoothly.

Once called munchkin by her classmates, she's now grown a couple of inches and a cup size. Though sparks quickly fly, these two have issues to resolve from their past before they can really ring in the New year together. I have to confess that I skipped ahead to this story, something I rarely do I guess I'm afraid the book police will stop by.

I wish it could have been longer. I choose this book because I love the author. I also love good Christmas story and this was a good one. After years of thinking about writing her own novel, during nights and weekends for the next several months, she began crafting her own story. That manuscript, Tangled Reins, was the first of her books to be published.

After achieving a level of success with her novels, Stephanie "retired" from scientific research and became a full-time novelist. Her novels are primarily historical romances set in the Regency time period. Stephanie and her husband live on peaceful acreage on the outskirts of Melbourne.
