I'm not sure how good it would be at explaining yoga to someone who has never practiced with a teacher. It does not have a lot of specifics about hand placement or how to hold a pose in a way safe for the body. So I think this book to be a helpful guide for someone like myself who is trying to do take what I've learned in the classroom and start using it at home. The illustrations are helpful. I especially like the meditation section becaus This is a very handy guide for at home yoga practice.
