Inevitable (Goddess of Fate Book 1)

A doozy of a cliffhanger, really. The story takes a very dramatic turn at the end. Expect a few tears to fall. Not sure how long we have to wait for the next book but, really, any amount of time is too long. Every part of me wanted to kiss him back with the same passion that radiated off him, but I knew that he couldn't give me what I needed. I wanted a real relationship with a shot at a real future. Logan was sweet and gorgeous and said all the right things, but I couldn't let myself forget, he was also a notorious playboy.

I was nothing more than a small town teacher, searching for my epic love, not just hot sex with a friend.

Living on the outskirts of town, she enjoys the peace and quiet it brings, that is until she is almost run over by her new neighbor, Logan. He is a player, a womanizer, a flat-out man whore. He is used to getting what he wants, when he wants it with little to no obstacles to get in his way.

You know this, already. This move was for Logan to spend more time with Oliver but they both found it natural to fold Cassandra into all their plans. View all 29 comments.

She's the sweet teacher next door who's been betrayed in lurve before and won't settle for being anyone's sex doll. They spend the entire book dancing around one another, becoming friends, getting closer and closer with some hit and miss chemistry but something always gets in their way.

Then it finishes on a cliffhanger ready for the merry old dance to be stretched out into another two books. I'm past Gah how irritating. And did someone forget about the dog? The writing was good, but these overstretched plots aggravate more than entertain me. If you like a nearly but not quite there yet romance and you're willing to buy two further books to get that then you'll probably enjoy this.

Love, Me, that is willing yet unwilling to wait for the next book. Inevitable blindly attacked me. It was a definite hit, a three-point shot and a home run for me reading this. I definitely love Cassandra. From the get go, I harbor this certain likeness for her and fortunately she did not fail me. Her moment of weakened with her ex has now passed and getting her own life back in track is her goal.

She's a one of a kind heroine that never fails to amaze me with the choices she made. I idolize her for always seeming to make the right ones. Logan is the mysterious yet cocky new neighbor that Cassie has.

He's upfront from the start that he's the no-relationship kind of guy; in fact he may even come as a man-whore. But you can't help yourself if you fall right? Plus his kid Oliver is such a cutie! He's this four-year-old guy that seemed to be too mature for his young age. Yes he's a caring dad and brother, responsible and stuff but what more? I just need more justification and proving. As Will Cooper said, 'Death. The only inevitable thing in life' , but now I know that that is not the only thing that is inevitable, Falling In Love is another thing that is inevitable in life.

Hilary and Caleb, I really thought that the next book would be about you two, but I was wrong. I can't believe it. I honestly need and crave for the next book now. I have no disappointments in reading this book. Wonderfully woven story that literally makes me crave for me.

I saw a promo for this and when I went to Amazon to buy it I saw people has the absolute sheer stupidity to take stars off a rating because it was a book 1 in the series. It is clear and explicit that it is a series and not a standalone read.

I don't understand that. The author didn't say it is a series and book one is tied up with a little bow and perfect ending. No matter how many times I saw "cliffhanger" in the reviews I still wanted to scream. For me I totally defend the book, series and the cliffhanger. Maybe I should go through some like The Siren, how long did we wait for book 2. I didn't see people bitch that she produced with no sequel ready either. Oh let me please mention Gabriel and his Inferno how long was that??? Give me a break and read on It reminded me a lot of a Kristen Ashley book. I don't ever say that easily or lightly.

The characters for example were really good. A really young, raw, naive, jilted, smart, 22 year old and recent college grad. She has been wronged and is not the usual example of being wronged. She deals with it in her own way. I liked her style! Then her best friend Hillary is great. They are similar in many ways and the relationship works for me. You learn about her Grandparents, her Mother Felicia and her beginnings. Now for the Caleb and Hillary thing; she crushed on him since, well forever This is another reason why the supporting cast in a book is so vital.

This book has great bones, strong foundation and a structure that is now solid. Mark is the loser who was caught with the tramp Mackenzie in page 4. She shows up again a few times and well he does too. So forge ahead and let me say Logan is juicy! He is a great character who, like the others, is well rounded.

He is who he is, does what he does and has no regrets. He is truthful and bold and that is why I liked the character. He has a history that is discussed and you will get the reason why he is so delicious to me. Last in the support arena is Oliver, Logan's son who is 4 and Julia, his sister. Julia is a bit of a spitfire with major opinions on Logan;s lifestyle. She never hides or shy's away from what she thinks is right or wrong. There will be a point where she really shows her loyalty to Logan and Oliver. Pull yourself together Cassandra!

So many times she says this and I get a laugh out of it. I love the way the book had drama, bad dates, scary dates, good morning jog scenes, and friendship. That being said I loved it and I am giving a bunch away! Jun 13, Kimberly Lauren rated it really liked it. How did I NOT know this had a cliffhanger??! Seriously I need to research my books more.

This book was great though - I loved the premise, it was something new. I love Logan, I love how involved he is with his family. I felt really bad for him at the end I cant wait for the next one. View all 3 comments. May 29, Jessica Victoria rated it it was amazing.

This book surpirse the hell cout of me. What a brilliant read. This is a most read for everyone!!!!!!! View all 15 comments. This is definitely one of those books that is really part one of a story. While it wasn't one of those cliffhangers where I want to pull out my hair and throw things - everything between Cassie and Logan is very much up in the air at the end of the book.

I have to be honest, I really didn't like Logan or Cassie in the beginning of the book. Logan is a hardcore manwhore. And yes, while he is pulls some seriously douchey 3. And yes, while he is pulls some seriously douchey moves in the beginning, I have to say I was judging him more harshly because he was a single Dad. Oliver was just such a sweetheart and the thought of his Dad acting like that just turned my stomach.

Cassie was the classic case of "I know he's a manwhore, and I'm going to pretend I hate him, while I secretly lust after him". I'm not sure why it irritated me so much, but the fact that she was still attracted to him after he was coming onto her when she thought he was married with a family just didn't ring completely true to me, especially given her past with Mark. All that said, they both more than won me over. Cassie kept her libido in check even after Logan became more than just a pretty face and hot body and Logan, yeah, he totally turned around.

Actually, I guess he really didn't change, so much as he let Cassie in, and she got to see that there was a whole lot more to him that sex on legs. By Christmas, he has completely won me over. Talk about a sweetheart. Up until then, the books had been fairly drama free. Is that storyline going somewhere? And why has she still not told Logan what happened with Mark? And boy, did it ever!

I will definitely be reading book two. I'm hopefully from the direction of the storyline the last few chapters, but I can see there is going to be a whole bunch of drama and angst for Cassie and Logan to go through before they get their HEA. Overall, I really enjoyed the book. I loved Cassie and Logan - and most of all Oliver although I have to say he was very well spoken for a four year old: I liked the natural progression of Cassie and Logan's relationship no insta love here!

I'm anxious to see how everything is going to work itself out. I really hope Cassie isn't going to have some kind of permanent issue from the car wreck - and if Logan ends up doing something stupid with Natasha I'm going to stab him in his junk. Jun 20, Natalie rated it really liked it. Are you kidding me? The author has guaranteed that whoever reads this book will have to buy the next one. This book had no ending and there's no chance that I'll miss out on read the next one. You can't just- ending it It was so sudden I was like arrrhhhggg! No joke, I threw my kindle on the bed and stormed out my room.

Jul 20, Forever Books rated it it was amazing Shelves: After reading the second book in this series Splendor and loving it so, of course I then had to go back and read the first book. Good news is that they are both standalones, so reading them out of order was no big deal at all. Some people will automatically dismiss Serendipity because there is — gasp!

The title of Serendipity refers to how Nathan and Julia keep running into each other at random locations around New York City until the night they finally hook up. They part ways for several months until as fate — or in this case, serendipity — would have it the two of them wind up working in the same office when Julia relocates to San Francisco not knowing he lives there. In the end, though, the idea of losing Julia to another man is all he can think about and they eventually wind up together. The character development and dialog in this book is just tremendous, to the point where you feel like you know these people and get a glimpse into their daily lives.

There are a number of supporting characters, mostly family and co-workers, and their involvement in the story is just enough to add some variety without us having to learn far too much about their lives in the process. We also meet the charming Ian Gregson love that name! I always love me a great HEA and this book definitely delivered.

The writing is top notch, so well done in so many ways, which is sadly a rare find these days with so many self-published but not always well-written books. Dec 12, Kelly rated it it was amazing Shelves: I was beginning to give up hope that I'd ever find a book like this one. I've read a lot of just so-so stuff lately and found myself really disappointed in several books, but definitely not this one.

I found out about this little-known book kind of by accident on a blog I follow from time to time. I liked a lot of the things the author mentioned in her interview on the blog and thought I might as well try my luck. It was one of the best decisions I've made in recent months because this book Wow. It was one of the best decisions I've made in recent months because this book is just so good that you - 1 can't put it down, 2 don't want it to end and 3 wishing for once that this was a three-part book like so many others are these days because you just want to keep reading about these characters.

The basic plot - Julia and Nathan meet by chance in New York and are wildly attracted to the other. They have a really hot night together the seduction scene in the hotel room is amazing! I know the haters of cheating will come out in full force but honestly the situation is handled in a way that will make you feel for him and understand his actions, especially after the way he beats himself up over what he did throughout the book. Never expecting to see each other again, both of them are shocked when Julia winds up working for the company that Nathan owns in San Francisco a few months later.

What follows is their attempt to keep things professional while still fighting off their attraction to the other. Nathan in particular has to deal with wanting to do the right thing and honoring his commitments, but at the same time still wanting the girl he knew in New York and not wanting anyone else to have her. There are great supporting characters in this book who are a vital part of the story without the story being about them. We are already getting hints of the storylines for several future characters - Angela, Tessa, and Julia's larger than life twin Lauren who is my favorite character, by the way.

But what I appreciate is that their stories are only hinted at and don't become a side plot to the current book, which unfortunately a lot of authors seems to be doing lately, especially if they are trying to stretch their plot out to three books. What I love about this book is the detail and care the author takes with describing things to us, things that often get overlooked or glossed over in other books.

We get to see in detail what everyone looks like, what they wear, what they eat, etc. It's written in third person, which is a real relief after reading way too many books lately in first person, especially where the hero or heroine has a bunch of "stuff" going on in their lives and the reader gets wrung out dealing with all of their traumas. The other good thing about books in third person is that you get to see the story from a variety of viewpoints, not necessarily just the hero's and heroine's.

I wish more authors would go back to this point of view - in my opinion it just makes for a better overall book. I'm in awe that this is her first book because it is so well written and realistic. It's so much better than a lot of the stuff out there now that reads like a pre-teen's diary. The dialog is smart and sharp, the situations the characters find themselves in not so unbelievable that you find yourself shaking your head, and no stupidity or pointless back and forth arguing.

What keeps the hero and heroine apart for most of the book isn't some silly, blow-out-of-proportion argument or misunderstanding or some ridiculous set of circumstances or their own crazy emotional messed-up state of mind. And for fans of steamy hot erotic romance, this book also has plenty of that. The sex scenes are written with as much care and detail as the rest of the book and Nathan is one of my favorite "dirty-talkers". Overall, this is definitely one of the best books I've read in a really long time and I was sorry to see it end unlike several other books lately where I literally had to force myself to finish it.

I would give it my highest recommendation and I'm not always easy to impress. Can't wait to see what this author brings us next. Apr 17, Ramona rated it it was amazing Shelves: This is my first book from Janet and I was surprised by her writing style: I have to admit that I was attracted to the book because of its title and felt the need to meet this heroes upfront. Julia and Nathan are total strangers, but end up h "Serendipity is the gift we find accidentally when we make a choice or life chooses a course of action for us" I discovered this series by accident, and I have to tell you that I feel very lucky for doing so.

Julia and Nathan are total strangers, but end up having a steamy one night stand.

Serendipity

Their attraction is instant and although my feelings toward this kind of chemistry are not totally positive, their relationship was genuine and the moments they shared truly made me believe in their connection. Julia was my type of heroine. She was smart, gorgeous, admired by every women out there because of her looks and smart attitude. She was also fierce and the intensity of her feelings made me admire her. She is not an one night stand girl, but due to her chemistry with Nathan, she took the chance and ended up falling in love with him. She was like "what you see is what you get" and didn't hide anything.

She completely gave herself to him, and although she was aware of not seeing him again, didn't have any doubt of being with him. Nathan on the other hand, had something to hide. When meeting Julia, he was engaged to be married and confessed this after their night together.. I've read a lot of negative reviews regarding the cheating aspect, but I think they are wrong.

First, Nathan was genuine attracted to Julia and loved her from the minute he saw her. Second, his engagement was purely official, without having deep feelings regarding his fiance. He respected her and wanted to do the right thing, but the love he felt for her was not comparable to his feelings towards Julia. Third, he struggled with this situation and tried to keep his distance from Julia.

He pretended to be happy with his fiance, tried to make things work, but in the end he couldn't. He just kept on interacting with her, discovering not only what a beautiful person she is on the outside, but on the inside as well. So, pointing to this things, he was not a miserable and pathetic cheater, he only made mistakes and tried desperately to correct them, but fate had other plans for this couple. I loved this book and even with this minor element that a lot of people dislike, I enjoyed the characters, the plot that was dynamic and consistent and please don't forget the serious amount of hot scenes that were delightful.

To be honest,Initially I was completely surprised and unprepared for the emotional angst that came in spades with this book. Yes there is cheating involved.. Especially Julia,I can't image how hard it would be to fall in love with the love of your life who just won't break things off with his girlfriend even though he's always been unhappy in his relationship.

But this is wrecking me emotionally, Nathan. It breaks my heart every single day to see you and want you so much but know you belong to someone else. Man,he defiantly has a way with words His unhappiness in his engagement, his sadness, his guilt, his longing for Julia all touch you through the pages, slowly softening your heart until you end up rooting for him in the end..

I cant offer you anything myself, and yet I don't want anyone else to have you either. This book was hot! And that's only a paragraph from a page ; Would I recommend the read? View all 26 comments. Jan 12, Writer rated it it was amazing Recommends it for: This is many things, doubts, lies and betrayal, lust, ardor and obsession, but also a true love story.

While walking from opposite directions amidst the hustle and bustle of Manhattan, locked eyes and both were struck with unfathomable sense of deep connection, attraction and unbelievable lust. Without even knowing each other's real name, they gave in to their passion, that night was one very memorable night neither one would soon forget. Comes morning and reality sets, Nathan confesses he's not a free man and engaged to be married, and broke Julia's heart. She ran away knowing they'll never see each other again, until Only this time, it's even harder and heart breaking than before. The heat, the passion and sex is even hotter than the last.

This is a true love story filled with romance, hot and sensuous and erotic love scenes. The other characters added to the credibility to make the story whole. The author's talent in describing each scenes vividly, the anger and frustration, guilt, incredible lust and longing, it is so real and tangible I'm in awe! A very thought out so descriptive that it almost felt visual journey to love taken by her two leads, Nathan and Julia.

JN gives her readers the full picture, the ups and downs, the thoughts, the struggles, the guilt, the love, and definitely the lust. The sexual times between Nathan and Julia were intensely hot, very descriptive and erotic. Nathan can talk dirty with the best of them and ooh la la was it panty-dropping sexy!

Navigation menu

Her characters, all of them, were well-developed and multi-faceted, with individual personalities so defined you'll think you've actually met them. Nathan himself was sexy as hell, loyal and loving to his family, and did his very best to be honorable to a woman who has given him two years of her life even though he didn't love her, wasn't the one to ask her to marry, and became engaged for very weak reasons. And yeah, he was a cheat.

And at times a real jerk. But he was also walloped over the head with a love at first sight, that only grew no matter how desperately he fought it. It's noted numerous times that Julia is a stunning, jaw-dropping beauty who turns the heads of every man who sees her. That she has style, grace, elegance, and embodies nearly every man's ideal for a wet dream.

But she is also kind, talented in her field, thoughtful of others, and able to ignore the reactions she gets from men rather than use them to her advantage. She falls hard for Nathan when she meets him in New York and is devastated when he tells her he has not been honest with her about his situation and that he is, in fact, recently engaged.

This is not a simple story told with a short span of time. It reaches over more than a year as the undeniable feelings Nathan and Julia have for one another develop despite their best efforts to fight them. It is not a simple story of lust that was given into. It is a complex story of soul-mates who find each other not only once, but twice in a serendipitous way. What's simple to see is that they were meant to be together.

What's delightful to read is this story of how they get there. It kept me turning the pages, a bit aroused, and completely captivated from start to finish. I rate this book with five stars and can't wait to read the next installment in this series. I'm hoping it will be Julia's twin sister Lauren's or maybe Ian Gregson's. It's always great to see a confirmed playboy bachelor fall hard!

She even leads their sex life. There's no mention that he actually loves her even when asked directly. The H refuses to end their engagement while still lusting after h even while going into jealous rages anytime he thinks h is flirting with or having sex with someone else. I definitely believe they lusted after one another since the following chapters were of them going at it like rabbits. There's quite a bit of dirty talk although some of it sounded like it came from a very bad porn flick and cheesy. We get views into her thoughts from her POV and she is desperately insecure due to being picked on growing up.

She was an unattractive and awkward teenager who tries to correct her bad body image with plastic surgery. She is desperate for love after 2 failed engagements. After coming home from her girl's weekend she is blind sided by the H breaking off the engagement and admitting he's been cheating. Overall I wasn't impressed with the H or the h. He was a sleazy cheater and she was a walking doormat. I wasn't impressed with sentence after sentence of what designer each character wore and I definitely wasn't impressed with all the time spent lamenting the h's breasts.

It got down right ridiculous how much time was spent talking about her boobs. View all 4 comments.
