Resurrection in Mudbug (Ghost-in-Law Mystery/Romance Book 4)

Jan 16, April rated it really liked it Shelves: This book takes a turn away from the previous format of this series. This time we are going all cozy and juts a flirtation. I ended up starting this series with the 6th book, so I know this "romance" will be draw out over the next book as well. So, do not go into this looking for a HEA, not yet anyway.

This major change in the format wasn't something I loved.

Chronological Order of Ghost-in-Law Books

It is one of the reasons the series has lost a star. The other reason is the fat bashing. I am sick of it! It is so very uncalled for, sure This book takes a turn away from the previous format of this series. It is so very uncalled for, sure Helena isn't helping with her wardrobe, but the catty comments pissed me off. Being a curvy girl, I take offence. It was not needed at all for the story and just made me dislike the lead, who I otherwise loved.

I enjoyed the overall mystery here, it wasn't very solvable, but that wasn't a biggie.

I enjoyed the journey. Helena is a riot when she gets into the thick of it and forgets she is dead. Jadyn and Colt are the main characters this time around. Most of the book comes from their POV, but there are also scenes from the supporting cast and the bad guys. Those inside thoughts are no help in identifying the villain. No hanky panky here, bummer. Can't have steam if there isn't a romance. I listened to the audiobook narrated by Johanna Parker, who is fantastic.

I love the gentle roll to her Southern accents, they are light but distinct. The pace is quick enough to keep the reader engaged and her energy is wonderful. Great voices that stayed distinct and consistent. I am really enjoying this series and I hope future books have less fat shaming. Although, I will say Helena gives it right back! She has enough sass to keep me in a good mood!

I love reading and sharing my opinions with other readers. Thanks for taking the time to read my review! You can see more audiobook reviews on my blog www. Jul 12, FangirlNation rated it it was amazing. She has annoyed God and gotten kicked out of heaven. The people who can see Helena get a scare when Maryse's cousin, Jaydn, the new game warden in Mudbug, sees Helena.

They have noticed that no one ever sees the ghost until that person is in serious risk of losing her life, so they fear that Jaydn may be in danger. James, a cousin of Maryse from Trouble in Mudbug has arrived in Mudbug and her first day at work she is called to assist the sheriff, Colt Bertrand, with a situation that occurred in the game reserve. A wrecked shrimp boat has them investigating possible drug activity in the area.

Murder and mayhem follow. Okay, more fun with Helena and the residents of Mudbug and a new mystery to solve. A good addition to this fun-filled series. Jun 11, Michele Williams rated it liked it. I waited a bit to write this review. I am a big fan of Jana DeLeon's Mudbug series. Though the story line was good, I could only give this three stars because it was so poorly edited. Editing is my biggest pet peeve and I was really disappointed with this book.

Not only were there typos, but there were so many inconsistencies that at one point the main character Colt became Carter for a few pages. I assume at some time during the writing process the author considered Carter for his name but chan I waited a bit to write this review. I assume at some time during the writing process the author considered Carter for his name but changed it along the way.

Ghost-in-Law Series

Also at the end of Mischief in Mudbug there is enough evidence for an autopsy so they exhume Helena's body and do the autopsy. As the series continued they discussed the autopsy results as well as other things pertaining to the findings in the autopsy but in Resurrection in Mudbug Helena says her coffin was an empty box that she was cremated????? As for the story itself there was a lot of action a little gore but not much romance though Colt and Jadyn, the two main characters, did have some sparks and it seems that their story will continue in a new book.

The story also revisits with some of the characters from the other books in the series, mainly Maryse and Luc as well as Mildred and of course Helena. This book seemed rushed, I hope they take more time to fact check and edit before the next book in the series is released. Nov 05, Anita rated it really liked it Shelves: Fun read and a great continuation to this series. If you haven't read the other books, you should. The plot is good, but the romance doesn't get beyond the warm fuzzes stage, a real bummer.

A boat full of money turns up in a pond in the bayou. Everyone is wading in to grab some and the gators are eyeing dinner. Jadyn, the new game warden and Maryse's cousin had to take drastic action in order to prevent anyone from becoming gator bate. Sheriff Colt likes how she handles the situation and a lot m Fun read and a great continuation to this series. Sheriff Colt likes how she handles the situation and a lot more, but he doesn't make any moves during the whole book, bummer.

Bodies start appearing and they are not gator victims and Jadyn had someone shooting at her. Oh, Helena is back. It seems that God couldn't stand her either. I've read the first three books in the Mudbug series, and thought that was the end of the series. I was pleasantly surprised to find this one. I'm a huge fan of the series, this book however was just OK for me.

Resurrection in Mudbug Ghost in Law MysteryRomance Book 4

A shrimp boat is sinking in the swamp and she is called to the scene. There she finds a group of men fighting over small bags of money floating in the swamp. And alligators lining up at the shore for what seems to be their lunch buffet. The last thing Colt wants to do is break in a new game warden, even one that looks as good as Jadyn does. But as sheriff, he knows anything that turns up in the swamp technically falls under the jurisdiction of the game warden.

But this simple scene may prove to be more complicated than either of them can guess. So he will play nice with the new game warden. Only bad things happen when the ghost of Helena Henry shows up. She's back, and Jadyn can see her. That usually means that bad things are coming her way, and when Helena is involved it usually means death threats, running for your life and dealing with Helena's wardrobe choices. I really wanted to love this newest book in the series. It was typical of the others up until the end. I don't know if the author is planning on a part two of this story, or what.

The romance part of the story was just not there. This is a light hearted book. Some old characters are back and a few new ones. I like the characters, the laughter, the strong women. The main Character that is back is Helena Henry. She has been in Heaven for a year and now she is back causing mayhem. Helen was not a nice person when she was alive.

She still has a lot of issues. Their is a couple of scenes with Helen running around scared for her life or scaring others that just made me laugh out loud. The type of scenes that you just want to stop reading and share it with others. Jayden is the new game warden. She is also Maryse cousin. Her first day on the job is a wild one. She also sees Helena talking with Maryse. So everyone is worried that her life is in danger. Colt is the sheriff of Mudbug. He has issues with Jayden. He is the take charge type of person.

This book is a fast paced story. I hope we see more of Helen and her friends back for more fun and laughter. I will read more books by Jana Deleon. I bought it on Amazon. Helena is back from the Great Beyond and Maryse's cousin Jadyn joins the other wonderful ladies. I think she is a good addition to the series, but I wish we had seen a bit more depth of character for her in this book. The mystery, again, is secondary to the characters and their madcap adventures with the crazy ghost of Helena. Your use of the site and services is subject to these policies and terms.
