I mistakenly thought I could keep up with his extracurricular activities, going out and partying every night, and maintain a similar grade.

It only took me a couple of weeks to figure out, after partying with him and watching my weekly exam scores plummet, that no way was I going to be able to keep up with him and continue my flying career.
